Roles of melee weapon types
Most players expect this roles of infantry weapons according to vanilla>
Swords and shields = decent attack/protection
Spears = anti large (no AP damage), charge defence vs large, loose to swords 1v1
Dual swords = anti infantry, no AP damage
Two handed swords and axes = AP damage
Halberds = universal weapons, AP damage, vs large +charge defence vs large, loose to greatswords 1v1
There is simple logic in that, but radious mod dont follow this rule. There is armored spearmen with AP spears (makes them OP), t5 blazing sun halberds that loose fight to t5 monsters cause they lack of AP dmg, clanrat warrios with halbers without charge defence against large, norsca warriors with ap swords and shields (makes them OP), undead halberds without antilarge bonus, etc.
I find this problematic cause i cant tell by enemy weapon icons on the battlefield which unit is which. I play legend mostly, and there is no time to click and check stats. Charge at greatwords, but they have antilarge bonus, what? Throw armored guys at simple swords, but they starting loose hp, what? Monster infantry defeat 1v1 halbers of same tier, what? It breaks user game exmperience in a bad way.
And the immersion too. I meah why clanrat spears can defend against charge of large troops, but better clanrat warrios halberds cant do the same thing? They had better training, better weapons, etc. This example can be used everywhere.
And the lack of roster. I play mostly with halberds, but everytime i see them without AP/antilarge/defence against large it makes my butt hurt. This is not halberds, this is useless scrubs without purpose i wanted. For example there is a lot of antiinfatry troops in vampire counts, and there is another copy of them like black guards with halbers without antilarge. Why do i even need them?

Each race is very different, these roles should not apply globally cause it will kill asymetric gameplay WH offers.

For example many Greatswords were always used as anti large weapons, never vs regular infantry cause they would not fit to fast combat at all.

AP icon appears when AP damage is 1 point higher then regular damage. So if a unit has 48 damage and its AP is 25 and refular 23 it will have AP icon, if its wise versa it wont, but that by no means mean unit is useless, exact values can be seen when moving mouse over damage values.

With charge defence its very similar, not every unit and race can brace enemy charges the same way, spears and halbers do have bonuses vs large but it does not automaticaly mean that that all units will always stop charges.

Its always about learning each race separately, same goes for each unit. Uniqueness and variability makes it feel always different, you cannot count on same tricks and strategies no matter who you play as or against.

But fully agree with some points and examples and several changes to some units are on the way.
