- Vader's flagship now belongs to Piett but that's not really relevant for your post since no balance changes have been made on the ship itself.
- There's actually one way to counter a big fleet with the Executor in it : A big rebel fleet with a lot of bombers. Here's the catch on how the Executor works (as in how every models works but the size of the Executor pushes the game to its limits) :
- The bigger the ship, the further away the enemy will be able to shoot this big ship. Same goes on the other side, the big ship will have by default a longer range for the same shooting range value. Your normally don't feel this change, but then again, the size of the Executor makes it really noticable. Therefore, Rebel bombers can launch their torpedoes at the Executor when they're still fairly far away from the ship, and they can stay pretty much in a safe distance when taking out every hardpoints.
- The Executor has, by default, no defence against bombers. It is only equipped with heavy weapons and deploys squadron slowly. Slowly enough that, with enough x-wing or a-wing support, these fighters are no threat to the attacking b-wings or y-wings. Moreover, the ship is so big that from the hangar to the bombers, the TIE fighters have a long way to fly, making them even more vulnerable.
- The Executor hardpoints have generally low health. Against 8 to 15 squadrons of rebel bombers (which is the average of a powerful rebel fleet in UGC CE), the Executor can be wiped out in less than 10 minutes. An Executor alone is only impressive by it's size, but when properly countered, it is overall weak.
- Along with hardpoints low health, the Executor is slow. It is faster for the death star to clear a planet than for the Executor to engage combat with the enemy on the average GC space map.
- The view of the Executor for a rebel human player can be overwhelming, mainly due to its size, but an experienced player will just see an occasion to severly impact the Empire's budget.
I personally think the Executor doesn't need any balance changes, but I'm of course opened to further talk :-)
