Its not "They hunger" from the GoldSrc days; But its okay at best.
+Love the custom models
+Has potencial to be AMAZING
+The opening level is pretty good, I did find it odd how you dont have a HEV/ Power suit to help with damage control, but meh.
+Really good level design.
-Its SUPER short. ( about 45 minutes to 30 minutes of actual gameplay )
-Some, not all, turrets are placed oddly, and can feel like a cheep at times.
-some animations of reloading, or picking up weapons is just a little slow.
-no real conversations with custom voices, this doesnt really change my score in the end, but it was something i was looking forward too.
- Text on the screen after a loading screen, it breaks the immersion.
Overall however, this was very well put together, and was kinda interesting.
though i do with there was some voice acting to make seem a bit more "real"; But it was decently fun, and i enjoied my time with it. :) Nice work, all of you.
( Final score 7/10 ) ( not bad mates! :) )
Thank you, we are very pleased
Map design includes a bunch of pointless rooms and locked doors even though there are handleless doors to indicate that there is nothing there.
Weapons are just reskins and 3 of them draw from the same ammo type
HECU marines attack black ops
First turret placement was incredibly unnecessary considering there is no cover you can get to without being shot at for a good amount of damage.
I never felt like I was moving forward playing this, I would find a new room only to realize that there was no point in going there. I'll find buttons and switches that can't be interacted with. I only managed to progress purely from guesswork alone. There were many crates on the maps that can be broken but none of them had yielded any useful resources. I gave up when I got cheesed out by bad turret placement and shot at by marines.
The idea of being a Black-Operator and seeing the Black Mesa disaster from a new perspective is honestly a very good concept to begin with. Reminds me of the expansion to the original Half-Life, Opposing Force; so to start this review off on a good note I have to give this mod a solid 7.5/10.
I do want to make constructive criticism from a person who has viewed gameplay but ultimately doesn't have time to play it. The story is still great, new perspective and all; however I have very minor things to bring to light and that is:
+ Choppy Animations: I will not lie, picking up the shotgun and sniper rifle is very odd and the animation is choppy, slow and out of place. However, I do understand the limited resources provided and doing an animation from scratch let alone incorporating that into a game is difficult.
+ Weapon Models: The models are a little lack luster and very awkward in their textures. The Uzi doesn't look like an Uzi, the Sniper Rifle textures are a little weird with the lighting (maybe its just me) and the pistol is silver and odd looking. [Side note: I have no problem with the guns provided just things seem slightly off and just need a little dust off that's all]
+Ambience: When watching the walkthrough, I could not help but just think of how quiet things were. I understand we cannot make everything super creepy but the music and ambience did not really kick in till later in the game the beginning just felt a little deprived of that ambient life.
All and all; I cannot go into deep detail about all of this because I A) haven't played it and B) not one to over analyze things. Regardless this is good work and you should be very proud of it, I cannot mod myself or make things like this by myself but this is some fine work and if you had others aid you; they definitely deserve a pat on the back because things like this take time to do.
Great mod!
Keep up the good work!
