Bug Reports
Please list all bugs below. I will address them as soon as possible.


Current and Known Bugs

  • Re: Building shells (e.g. swamp shack, swamp dome, etc) that clip into trees: interior structures have placement issues.
    DIO: I don't know how to fix this. I am hoping that Lofi will address it.

  • Sometimes, a whole mess of "Nesting Blood Spiders" spawns outside the Outpost-II in Root.
    DIO: They are supposed to spawn INSIDE that building, and pour out when you open the door. Spawning outside is unintended, but I can't figure out why it's happening because I can't repeat it faithfully. I think the error can be avoided by saving and importing in a zone other than Root. It should not happen if you own the building.

  • The red tide should be more umm... hostile.
    DIO: The next Root update will solve this problem.


  • Miella says she's in the UC lord's home when she is not.
    DIO: The next Root update will solve this problem.


  • There are too many items for sale in the UC lord's building.
    DIO: The next Root update will greatly reduce the number of items the UC lord sells.

Sorry to post here, remove at your leisure, but couldn't find out how to post in the other section.. My request is if you'd like to publish this mod somewhere else, like at nexus as well.. I have the old kenshi-version which doesn't seem compatible with steam or sth.. It's 95. something so prob compatible with mod? It looks awesome btw..

@LyranRenegade I'll see about uploading it to Nexus Mods in the next couple days. Just to be clear, is your issue that you have a non-Steam version of Kenshi, and so are unable to apply Steam Workshop mods?

Ah, that would be awesome, it looks really cool.. But, that's right, I just got the free version from their site. Think I'll buy the game anyway but that would reset my current world I suppose so wanted to wait with that.

@LyranRenegade I wouldn't worry too much about resetting your worldstate if you buy the game via Steam. You can always just copy + paste the save files to your Steam installation.

Also, because Kenshi is awaiting release, you may find that there are aspects of the game that you want to experience with a fresh start later on. Some events gauge the strength of the player faction relative to AI factions, for instance, and these trigger when you have very green characters and little money.

yep, that's true.. but I had experienced some weird behavior with importing a game before.. especially concerning diplomacy if I recall correctly. Faction-relations are reset for instance but dialogue-options weren't.. but it's a while ago.. Also am not such a big fan of steam to be honest, I like to control my files myself, there's this bigger and bigger control that windows for instance and other companies try to exert over your computer and it just doesn't feel right for a free anarchist renegade kind of spirit like myself :P.. so, figured for a developer you'd like your creation to be experienced by as many as possible so that's why I don't understand why you'd only want to publish the mods on steam, they make a profit of your work [either directly oir indirectly]. But I'm just guessing here.. I'll buy the game one of these days prob to save some hassle.. So, I'm a really lazy renegade anyway.. what's money anyway? Just some made up virtual thing, now more then ever.. Ok, thanx for replying, have a nice day!

@LyranRenegade Your point about avoiding the various snares of Microsoft, Apple, Valve, or other companies is not lost on me. I would prefer to avoid being in the clutches of companies at all, so I would prefer to transact with a few entities rather than many—which may in part explain why I have not rushed to upload this mod or others to various websites.

I prefer Steam to comprable services, and I like some of what it has achieved for PC gaming. I realize that some developers are displeased with Valve's model for curation, and I am aware of several other criticisms that are in my estimation well founded. Still, I think it is difficult to sidestep some of these pitfalls when curating goods in a marketplace.

Thanks for trying out the mod. It's not expansive yet, but there are some little things to discover that I hope will expand the game to your liking.

Haven't played it yet. Became enthousiastic about building my own mod now and that isn't easy at all, mildly put. So, but when I do I'll surely let you know my impression!

Lord Pagni's house locked when I left it after talking to him the first time and hasn't reopened since (about 4 days of waiting). I tried breaking in but they attacked me.

It sounds like the House Pagni guards aren't unlocking the door as they should during their daily schedule. I would wager that this isn't a problem with the mod per se, but rather a consequence of something that has happened in your game instance. If this problem persists for more than 24 hours in game, reset your world.

It could be, for instance, that all the House Pagni guards are dead or stuck, and so there is no one to unlock the door. Let me know if the House Pagni people are going in and out of the door, but it's still locked.

I don't know if it's just me or not but my game keeps crashing every time I successfully lockpicked Mina's cage. Just hers specifically since I experienced no crashes lockpicking others out of theirs.

@ Riksmarshal: Thanks for letting me know about this. I will try to recreate this error for myself. It's possible that the patch changes to lockpicking created a conflict with the stats for Mina's cage in New Towns: Root.

Please verify that you have imported your savegame since the last patches from Lofi. Also, please tell me whether you are using any mods that modify the lockpicking skill.

I'm currently using experimental and a dozen mods and already imported my save file a few times. At first, I thought one or two might be clashing with Root so I verified my cache and ticked only this mod and Crusaders, started a new game, and just zerg rushed the prison lol Unfortunately, my game still crashes whenever I successfully lockpicked Mina's cage. I also found out stealth ko'ing Mina while in her cage crashes the game too.

@ Riksmarshal: Ok! I've tested this with a couple different characters and squads, but I'm not experiencing the crash you're describing. When I pick Mina's cage, she hops out and barks her "I'm free" dialogue. When I KO her, she collapses. In both cases, the game is stable. Try deleting New Towns: Root from your mod library and reinstalling via Steam Workshop.

If that doesn't fix your problem, I'll release a new version, and we can test it for the crash. It would help to hear back from other players to learn whether they are crashing when they pick Mina's cage—or for that matter, NOT crashing when they pick Mina's cage. Tell your friends! I will name an NPC's mother after you if you can reproduce this issue.

Hi! I didn't test all the aspects of the mod, but I came across few pathfinding issues. Characters can't reach two of the shops, those two between House Pagni and Swamp ruins. Can't reach House Pagni as well.
I did debug the game(fix few buildings, but this problems did not go away.
