Contract work? You could have some kind of yearly or monthly production quota to meet for a certain shipment and recieve slightly higher rates per item, but lose the contract if you don't fulfil it.
I'll be honest, I'm not even sure how plausible these things are for adding into Rimworld, but after downloading your mod and watching a ship land in the centre of my base, I figured if anyone could it'd likely be you. Amazing mod :)
I think the awnser for most the comments so far is a complete conversion or overhaul of RimWorld.
