Exiles of the ARK Will return - Where I have been.
A Notice:
It's been a while huh? I just wanted to say I am returning to work on this mod.

It WILL have everything split up, from dinos, to objects etc. It was a popular er... 'demand' it seems. I guess all in one mods are just not liked anymore unless they are full conversions even with the options to disable dino spawning, or this or that.

It took a long time but I at last have was able to upgrade my PC with what I hope the devkit wont give a heart-attach to just looking at the executable. That said it had been a while and I need to go through and sort out the tangle that is whatever it is that I did and trim back all the stuff I had experimented with that just ended up failing due to lack of help in some areas.

Thanks to another user I did find a far more friendlier modding community that I hope will be willing to answer my dumb questions and not brush me off and tell me to watch even more unreal tutorials :P Cause lets face it, the devkit might be unreal, but it is such an old version and has so much custom and tweaked stuff to be the 'ARK devkit' that unreal tutorials don't help with the more back end stuff to make stuff WORK with ARK, all it's custom this and that you have to tie into and do thing's ARK's way, not some generic unreal tutorial way.

Don't expect an update asap, it will still be some time. Now if I can just re-access the trello board.

Why has it taken this long?:

The simple answer, is real life.

The long answer is a bit more personal but I'm alright sharing it these days. Few years ago myself and some co workers were stuck by a speeding car running a red light while we were crossing at a light heading to a diner for our lunch break. My left side took the blunt leaving me today with an arm and hand that has reduced function due to nerve damage, and a leg that has badly needed surgery that my insurance refuses to pay for and that I had no way to afford myself leaving me in a state where I'm getting around by a walker on good days and not able to bear any weight on my left side on bad days.

This left me losing my job, my apartment, most my belongings, and needing to stay at friends places while I filed for disability. Got to love how your life can be thrown so out of whack by means outside your control. Or how your quality of life and ability to function is decided by other people that look at you and go 'naw we wont cover this surgery that has a high likelihood of allowing you to walk almost normally again. You'll be much better living on disability while being in pain every day and lucky to wake up still able to walk!'

All that and now updated PC?:

I have my roommate to thank for that, or rather I'm the roommate. I'm currently renting a bedroom from a friend and he is very interested in my hobbies. I sew, and also do resin craft works, embossing and recently after saving for a few months got myself a used but still in good shape Cricut Explore Air 2 cutting machine so I can do things like apply vinyls and designs to shirts and other items and make stickers. Fun little stuff to keep myself going. I've turned what once was a small hobby I'd dabble in every so often into an everyday venture that I hope to in the near future open up a shop to sell some of the items I make.

Liking what I'm doing and knowing a lot of what I design and so still is on the PC the friend I'm renting a room from offered to get me what I needed to get my old PC a bit more up to snuff in exchange for helping him with his job on design stuff that he would normally outsource elsewhere. So now I pretty much work for him.

Why bother with ARK 2 around the corner?:

Because I enjoyed making this mod and I want to continue it. I also feel that ARK isn't going to just die because ARK 2 comes out. From the looks of it ARK 2 is going to be a very different experience from what we have seen in the current game. It sounds like they plan to keep the survival aspect of it but as of typing this up, not really sure in what way?

There's many survival styles, just look at the Forest where it has a linear storyline but you can still build a base and fight enemies all you want, but when it comes down to it... it does have a single story you follow that comes to an end, and end of the game play. That is what ARK 2 is looking like to me. Plus all we have seen is pre rendered videos that people are ooo and ahhhing over, yet no real game play.

Over all, I'd like to get a base line for this mod set done and then go from there. Who knows, maybe we'll see this mod move over to ARK 2 if such is even doable. Only time will tell.
