This is an FAQ thread with all questions you might have. Please read this thread if you got any questions.
I will not respond on any questions if these got answered in this thread! This thread will be updated from time to time, so be sure to check it out!

  1. What does it change?
    This addon changes every single viewmodel and adds old Eugene hands that used to be in early versions of Zombie Panic! Source. It is also comes with old animations and some weapons were replaced(I.E. Winchester).
    This addon also replaced most GUI textures such as communication menus, inventory icons, HUD and also replaces current infection sound with old one.

    This addon removes current Eugene, Marcus, Paul, Jessica, Lea, Vanessa and Pedro hands.
    EXACTLY THIS addon is not compatible with other mods such as weapon viewmodels\textures, GUI parts and sounds.
    If you want to play with other mods but also have a Classic ZP!S hud, you can download
    this addon.

    Below is a list of noticable changes:

    • Replaced Winchester with Over&Under from Contagion.

    • Shovel and Sledgehammer uses Sledgehammer's animations from Contagion.

    • AK47 and M4 now uses animations from ZP!S 1.4 version. Reborn have tried very hard to make it as close as possible.

    • 870's pumping animations were reworked to match up current timing.

    • There is no interaction animations on viewmodels(picking up ammo\weapon, opening doors and etc). This might change in future.

    • Applied "No Level of Detail" for all textures.(Weapons\hands)

    • Restored night sights for Glock18c and USP that is missing on current versions.

    • Only Carrier's arms will be visible. No other characters arms will be seen. Carrier's arms was also re-animated to beta version of Zombie Panic! Source.

    • Reworked HUD for both teams.
      1. Survivors health and armor uses old icons.
      2. Survivors communication menu was also reverted to old version.
      3. Survivors inventory for weapons and items was also reworked. Most of items uses old icons and some inventory items are using new icons.
      4. Survivors ammo HUD is using old font(Requiem) but this might not work when downloading this addon.
      5. Survivor will see old infection icon(no green biohazard icon) to figure out they are infected.
      6. Zombies spawn icon, zombie spawns on ZPO maps as well as zombie group health was reworked. It uses white color instead of red to match up old version of ZPS.

    • Old background screen from ZP!S 1.0. Widescreen resolution version was completed by Reborn.

  2. The main menu or other textures are still the same as it was. Fix plz.
    I cant do anything much about it. The issue is laying down in mounting process causing some materials elements simply not refreshing. For example, background menu. When you launch the game and when you are in main menu, the game starts mounting process. Once the mounting process is done, the game simply do not update materials, resulting the same 3.x menu showing up. To fix this, you have to open console and type in:
    mat_reloadallmaterials
    The game will freeze for a mere second or so and once refreshing materials process is compelted, you will get every texture and old background working.

    Alternative way(Better solution if you have 3+ more mods installed).
    Place my addon in zps_custom folder.
    To do so, head to Steam > steamapps > workshop > content > 17500 > 1238754142. Copy everything from that folder and navigate yourself to zps_custom folder. If you dont know where, here is the path:
    Steam > steamapps > common > Zombie Panic! Source > zps_custom. If such folder do not exist, simply create one with that name. After that, paste files into that folder.
    REMEMBER
    Whenever this addon gets updated, you will have to repeat this step again to apply changes, otherwise, some changes might simply not work because of priority system!

  3. I can see zombie arms! HELP!
    This is code related glitch and I cant resolve it unless I disable zombie textures which I will never do that. This issue might happen only very few weapons(chair, barricade hammers).

  4. Ammo selection font is still same. You didnt changed?
    No. The file cant be included in this addon as it will not get mounted in game,
    resulting no changes at all when it comes to font.
    Since this is not possible with Workshop tool, I am providing link to
    Clientscheme resource[www.dropbox.com] file. This file doesnt change anything else but just ammo selection hud font(Requiem).
    Place that file in resource folder which can be found in zps folder.

  5. I cant see current Eugene, Marcus, Paul, Jessica, Lea, Vanessa or Pedro hands!
    As it was stated, this addon brings only old Eugene hands. That means, you will be unable to see any other hands but just old Eugene hands that used to be in early versions of Zombie Panic! Source.

  6. I love your work, but I'd like to have only HUD and no modificated weapons(or I just want to play with other mods too). Can you make one?
    Its already available here.

  7. This mod doesnt work well with unstable build. Are you going to fix this or what?
    Yep. We will have to anyway and there is going to be lots of work for it. Once 3.1 gets released as public build(not unstable or anything else), we'll update our addon.

Any other things you planned to work on?
Yes, here is my plan below:

  • Eugene and Marcus only.
    As it says, only Eugene and Marcus will appear in game. No Paul, Vanessa, Lea, Pedro. <-DONE
    This mod will have all models and sounds replaced to our usual Eugene and Marcus.
    Jessica will stay due file conflicts with mod made by Reborn, which you can find in collection. This will also appear as additional addon, so people will not struggle in future.
    Might be available in near future but I am not the one who decides that at this moment.

I shall give an update for Eugene and Marcus only mod:
There is 2 reasons why I cant release this mod(or more accurately, I can but it will be really in bad shape):
  1. It crashes the game whenever game tries to spawn a gib after killing either Survivor or a Zombie.
    I have no idea why this happening, despite of the fact I tried to recompile same gib models. The game simply crashes each time whenever gib is being spawned in game. This is being investagated by Shepard, our programmer.
    After some investagation, turns out, the crashing due gibs issue happens extremely randomly at current version of ZP!S. The original idea of uploading that mod to 3.1 version remains.

  2. The sounds.
    Lets take a look a bit deeper at sounds and their volume. Each survivor and each zombie has its own script controlling the volume, specifies which sound to use whenever X action is done and more.
    Now if we are going to take a look and pay attention to same Paul zombie script and compare it with Pedro script, we can see that Zombie Paul volume is less than normal(0.4) while Zombie Pedro has really loud volume set(0.9).
    See the difference? Now imagine this: Zombie Marcus(replaces Pedro) making very loud noises, while Zombie Eugene(replacing Paul) makes bit quieter than usual noises. This only makes you being paranoid all the time, because you can and will hear Zombie Marcus(replacing Pedro) way too far away than you usually would and each time whenever he is behind 2 walls - you will feel like he is way too close to you, making you even more paranoid and forcing you to turn around 5 times before making sure you are okay.

    Yes, you can modificate scripts and all that however, modificating scripts will simply not let you in game + workshopper tool simply will not upload any scripts into Workshop page, making script changes completely useless.

Side note (October 19th 2020):
-The mod hasn't been converted to ZPS v 3.1 yet. It's adviced to disable the mod in "Extras>Add-Ons" menu to avoid the bugs and issues caused by the mod.
