How are things affected?
Can you say, in which way, you affected the areas?

Initially I went through and deleted all extra elements, rocks plants, etc... that wasn't needed to fully enjoy the game, it made it ugly, but slightly faster. After hearing from the commenters, I decided to try experimenting with removing shadows and extra lighting effects.

I am stilll working on implementing the shadow removal, but as of right now I have removed extra lighting effects such as fog from certain areas, and excess lighting in order to help boost frame-rates. This mod is still very much a work in progress, but I hope to be making significant progress in the days and weeks to come. This isn't really a large mod, it is actually quite small in comparison, but I do not get much time a day to work on it, but I will do my best!

btw, I have SkyUI, and I am wondering if later you could choose what things to take out, say if you wanted only so-and-so out but another thing still in.

i agree with -SL- Mr.Livin'LikeLarry. that would amke it useful to not only thoes that have slower computers but aldo thouse who just want spacific things out like say fog or thoes little cob webs that r just there and cant be removed

Shadows and Lighting will be a huge step towards better FPS. Cutting down on non-essential NPCs will help a lot too. As in, if they dont give you a mission or sell you something, they are not needed. Good work, as a Source modder Im always trying to include people with low end machines.

Well, if you want to disable shadows entirely (and I assume you do because your mod will eventually cover all of skyrim, right?), you can do that very easily via the .ini file. I did it myself because I had some strange shadow bugs a while ago and it doesn't even look that bad. And it surely helps the performance.

@-SL- Mr.Livin'LikeLarry I have never worked with SkyUI, but if I am able I could try to integrate it.
@Mand'alor I am trying to let my mod disable shadows using .ini files, but am unable to get the mod to upload the .ini overwrite file to the Steam Workshop. Each individual could go in and disable shadows, but it would be convienient if the mod did it for them. I know it is possible, and I have tried doing it the way the Creation Kit Wiki states, but it hasn't worked. So I see what you are saying and am working on implementing it.

how do you make mods in the first place? I have been wondering that for a while.

well this is a bit to much i think because skyrim cities would not be the same without any talking people in it

Indeed, I think this is where an integration with SkyUI would be beneficial.
Personally I like the extra npcs, even if I get to hear the same lines of dialog over and over, but some people might not like/need them, and in cases of a really old pc this would be a great asset to have, being able to remove the npcs.
I wouldn't go that far but some people might want to.

Don't remove non-essential NPCs, they can still be useful to pickpocket and even can be used with a certain Daedric artifact that benefits from how attached people are to you. (It's better in this one case that the person who likes you is someone you wouldn't miss...)

I also really love that you're making this mod. As someone who once had a computer that had these problems you have all of my admiration.

I realize we all like the NPCs that populate the workd and make it feel 'alive'. Its just a suggestion. Liking something doesnt change the fact that performance would be vastly improved without them.
