Lucario Race

Rather Large Overhaul Update Coming!!
A new overhaul update will be coming to the Lucario Race once I get finished with the few changes I have left to do.[It's out!]

This update was completed a long time ago

What is to be expected?:
  • The Essence of Aura System will be entirely changed.

Previously, essence of aura was added to the global monster drops. This caused essence of aura to drop for every race instead of just the lucario. It also had a lot of incompatibilities due to conflicts with how certain mods patch the drop tables. The new system is going to be entirely based on the player to farm. Aura based weaponry will gain a new status effect called "Aura Drain". This effect will not appear on the weapon tooltips for weapon compatibility reasons but you can assume that if the weapon is aura based it will gain this effect. How it works is simple, you land a hit on an enemy and the enemy turns a bluish color to slowly take damage over time. Okay so what about Essence of Aura? Essence of Aura will only drop from the status effect if you play smart and how it drops (granted can still happen in some circumstances) is if you decide to waste the status effect. So to sum it up, landing a blow on an enemy that dies from that hit while aura drain is not active, will cause you to "waste" the aura for Aura Drain and instead make it drop as Essence of Aura. The Essence of Aura will not drop if you try to kill the enemy while Aura Drain is active. This completely reverses the lore that was in previous builds that the aura dropped was from the enemy. Now the lore will be that it is the essence of the aura you wasted from attacking that cannot be immediately re-absorbed.

  • Character Customization will be Streamlined.

So prior to this coming update the character customization had 252 fur colors, 30 hair colors, and 160 eye colors. Each of these options had to be pressed in entirety to see every customization the Lucario race had to offer. The customization provided in fur color was; 3 tails, neutral or gendered bodies, chest spike or not, and 21 actual colors. Hair color had only 30 options. Eye color has; mega or normal paws, paw spikes or no paw spikes, 4 head appendage options, and 10 actual colors.

As you can tell, this is a lot to click through just to customize the lucario. To compensate this, I will be moving some of the customization aspects out to other mods.
NOTE: this will not affect your saves!!!
Every option the lucario have will still be entirely supported and your character will not change at all. I made sure to work on this to keep old saves fully compatible!!!

Although as for what these other mods are, there will be 3 mods. One of these mods will change your character customization options to remove your chest spike. Another of one of these mods will remove the paw spikes from your character customization. The final mod will be a mod that converts the lucario into their neutral bodies, which will do checks to see if the chest spike is removed before making changes. This means you can have all 3 mods installed at the same time without conflicts. Having all 3 installed will be a completely spike bare neutral bodies lucario. Without any of these mods, the lucario will be fully spiked with gender differences. These mods only change the directives in the character creation code so in a nice extra, anyone can have or not have these mods for multiplayer sessions. They are not required and will not break your game if you don't have them!!
ANOTHER NOTE: These side mods will not update your previously made save's appearance, after installing any of these side mods, the changes will only show for character you make after install. This includes NPCs!! They as well will not change, only newly spawned NPCs after install will match your mod choices.

Also coming with these changes are the streamlining of the creation process. Since spikes and gender different options will be in the side mods and no longer apply in the base mod, the other options have been shuffled around to even out the amount of times you click through the CC options. Fur color will now only control your tail type and the fur colors, so 252 options are being reduced to just 63. Hair Color will now control your head appendage type and hair color, bumping up from 30 to 60. Eye Color will now control the mega tipped option and your eye colors, decreasing 160 down to 40. As well since these changes simplify the system. Fur color will now become Tail:Fur Colour, hair color will become Lock:Hair Colour, and eye color will become Mega:Eye Colour. This will further make CC easier since people will know more of what they are changing.

So in summary the CC will now become:
    Tail:Fur Colour | 63 options (from 252 options)
    Lock:Hair Colour | 60 options (from 30 options)
    Mega:Eye Colour | 40 options (from 160 options)

For those who noticed Lock:Hair Colour is oddly low for 60 options, there have been some changes. I unfortunately have to retire the mega color tipped lucario appendages from Character Creation. Unfortunately in my new layout to reduce the amount of options you click through, I had to remove the option. Old saves will still keep their mega tipped appendages as the update will not take that away. Although they simply wouldn't work in the new code correctly. If you noticed 60 is still too low, I also curated the hair color in the game from 30 options down to 20. There were a lot of hair colors that were way too close to each other in color or simply looked bad, so 10 were removed.

To clarify the Character Customization further for if it wasn't clear above, installing the new side mods will not increase the options in Character Customization. The side mods will only change the options in CC. This does mean that not all body types will be available to you at once anymore. NPCs will no longer spawn in all body types, only the body type you specified from the side mods you installed will appear. If you want to make a new character or NPC in another body type, you will have to change your mods. I thankfully made this to where there is 0 issue in installing and removing the side mods. So uninstalling your side mods will not affect your saves. As for why these have been more restricted, other than to streamlining Character Customization, it is to give you personally more control on your lucario. Previously, a set of clothes that fit every lucario was made for the NPCs to wear. Although this clothing did not show off the body types for the NPCs. A player could hire a crew and not realize that they have 2 lucario on board who are different body types. Due to this, using the tailor to swap clothing would match one lucario but not the other. You now have complete control on which body type spawns now.

3RD NOTE: Installing these side mods will not cause anyone who joins your game to look different to you client side. Due to how the side mods work, you will see another person's preferred look, disregarding which combination of side mods you have installed if not at all. The side mods only change the Character Creator options and what the NPCs spawn as; it in no way will touch a pre-made save. They do not function like Cutebound.

  • Removal of Aura Seeker from crafting.

The aura seeker is an item from the early beta builds of Starbound. The matter manipulator in the beta and alpha builds of Starbound was a craftable item that your threw back into the crafting table to upgrade it further. As of such the Lucario Race began development way back then. All races back then had their own Matter manipulator as the story of alpha/beta Starbound could be ignored entirely to let the modded race do their own thing. Ever since 1.0, the Aura Seeker became an artifact of the past as the Matter manipulator became standard for every race. Originally it was kept in the mod in respect to the original build of the mod and for it being a fully sized manipulator for a building tool. Although as time went on, it became counter productive and outright broken in a godly sense in some situations. Nerfs were applied to the Aura Seeker over and over, but no matter how much it was nerfed, it's abuse factor was still relevant. As of such, the recipe to craft it has been removed from the mod. It will still be usable in old saves but can no longer be crafted. The Aura Seeker will eventually be phased out until it is either completely removed or it transforms into something different.

  • Another Lucario S.A.I.L. touch up.

What can I say? Lucario SAIL is just that special little character I keep improving towards perfection. Oh how I wish I could make a species specific dialog replacement for Lucario SAIL, but SAIL dialog is universal and would affect every race. Although I cannot give Lucario SAIL to emotion I want in dialog, I can at least give him the emotion in image form. As of such, being my art for Starbound has improved, Lucario SAIL is getting an image overhaul to something that has a lot more emotion. Also Lucario SAIL will become slightly more SAIL like in appearance but will also be looking more digital in the body parts a SAIL normally doesn't have. I hope that the emotion I am pouring into the new look will help make everyone's experiences that much better. It's just a little thing but I hope it'll be nice since you have to deal with SAIL a lot. Also the remaster will be showing the color changes I hope to make in the future.

  • Lucario Crafting menu OVERHAUL

So as I have heard.... over and over.... the current crafting menu in the Lucario Crafting stations are... awful. Even I will admit it. WELL NO LONGER!!! I have bled part of my soul into the new crafting menu that'll be coming out. The crafting menu will also be the introduction of the lucario aesthetic, since every race has one. This will help in the future production of furniture for the Lucario. Granted ornate and aesthetically pleasing this Graphic User Interface (GUI) will be, it uses a LOT of blue. I am highly aware of how blue light affects people's eyes, so I decided that the black colors of the GUI will have a red hint to them to try to counter all the bad blue light for your eyes. It is not perfect since I couldn't add any red to the blue or I got some shade of purple, but I hope it helps people out.

  • Possible Female Lucario sounds?(Success!!)

As many are aware, the female lucario sounds in the mod are only very slightly edited sounds of the male lucario. The sfx library of lucario sounds that exists are so expertly crafted that pitch shifting, speeding up, etc are not viable ways of making the sounds well sound female. This is mostly due to how professionally done the lucario sounds are in all of lucario's sfx history. So attempts are being made as of right now in development to create a set of female lucario sounds completely from scratch. I cannot promise professional quality, but I am trying my best. I will aim for something passable and not entirely annoying since I do not want to make the mistake of the original lucario sound of this mod on the first steam workshop build, outright being full on infuriating as happened before. I will strive for something quality if I can do it. If I cannot create a quality set of female lucario sounds, I will most likely put it down until time passes for me to have the skills to try again.

I hope these changes will be of great benefit to the mod and your play experience. Sorry that it is taking me so long to get a fresh update out, I hope this overhaul of several things can compensate.

The only things not FU standard atm is not giving weapons alternate FU stats, using the update window, integrating recipes into FU, etc
The mod works with FU with no problems, although I'm not fully utilizing FU to the fullest with the race. Granted Frackin Universe/Frackin Races racial perks have been fully developed. Due to the FU FR merger, it would require me to make another mod to utilize FU completely(trying to put it in this mod would cause errors). This would require me inquiring with FU staff on weapon balancing, which I'm not up to doing right now. Also FU is going to do a melee rework soon, so any weapon balancing discussion would have to be saved until after the FU melee rework.

Again the mod works with FU, but as for utilizing FU to it's fullest the mod isn't doing that at this time.

Thanks for taking the time to read this though. With how badly Steam doesn't notify users, I was expecting this post to go unnoticed. Makes me glad to know that someone is fore warned of the incoming changes!!

I'm aware of that too. Nice mod so far! Also I'm thinking about improving aura sphere animations and stuff, might help you as soon as I have time. :)

seems what i read everything is looking good, and I'm guessing the time frame of the mod is around 80%-90% done? from what i read it seems that way. though i also added FU just a few months ago, too bad the FU modders never had a way to get it made an a DLC, in my opinion Frackin' Universe seems like a major DLC for starbound for how big the mid is. i think i unpacked maybe 1 GB at least i can remember? but yeah i get what you mean. though that FU stuff can wait another time. we all know the pandemic is also causing a mess with some modders as well.

I hit a bit of a delay due to a family death, although while I was away, I did make progress on Lucario SAIL (took my iPad to do artwork while gone), for art I am a bit farther along now. Code and audio I fell behind a bit. Should be able to make it up soon

Some progress regarding sounds. I'm getting closer to getting done with the update. Lots more steps to complete, but getting closer.

Oh, this overhaul was already done some time ago. Everything listed here has already been implemented.

The only thing in progress right now is that I am working on an Armor Adapt overhaul, which will mean the lucario mod will get an update to match that. Most of said overhaul is going to be optimizations and ways to reduce image bloat so loading times go down. For the lucario being able to set sprite sheets for the different body types for the item in the item itself for those who are making clothing mods who brought up the point that they have to duplicate their images for every body type for outfits that are loose/fit all. Which I can agree is redundant and just file bloat.

After that? Thinking about making the open source of this mod more obvious and making it clear that people can contribute. As time goes on, been really slow on updating this, and I know some people want to fix that.

The github button at the bottom of the description leads to the source files, anyone is free to make a fork and work on possible contributions, but I see there is a severe lack of making that publicly aware. May have to make some sort of hub where people can discuss.

If the aura seeker is removed at some point, I'd like an optional patch that one can subscribe to so that the crafting recipe is retained, for those who prefer having it, like me.
