Agreed, it snaps under most circumstances where the character changes something. Level transitions, not quite as annoying as trying to swap weapons but it's there. Changing armour or weapons in any manner, also adding points to any stats or skills, I can't rightly remember but getting even temporary buffs to skills or stats will also cause it to break.
