Macedonians phalanx way to good
Hi, i just wanna start by saying i absolutely love this mod, it add so much that i was looking for !
But, my main problem is macedonia, i get that its suposed to be one of the best if not THE best race after rome because of thoses phalanx, but my problem with it is how ridiculously hard they are to go against in combat.

For example, i looked at real roman strategies to defeat that wall of phalanx so everytime im fighting em i got more cavalry than them with a good front line. I engage the phalanx with my triaris, then when my calvalry is done killing thoses skirmishers/ other cavalry i take em back to make a huge charge on the back of the phalanx, and then... nothing

Thoses phalanx stays there no matter what, i can have them encircled, charged from the back with their general dead, it just doenst work. My cavalry will die as quick as im typing this.

Is it me or they need to change them ? Historically thats how romans defeated macedonians, they used their superior mobility to charge em from different angle and a phalanx will NEVER resist an attack from the back, its almost impossible with their 20 foot long pike and their small shield and small sword.

I understand they are meant to be tier 3 units and be really good but in a battle that i have twice as much units it doenst make any sense for em to stand there until they all die. And im playing in normal.

Also to be the icing on the cake even if they only have 1 city left ( rhodes in my game ) they have 5 full army of 20 units with like 8 tiers 3 units in each, where in the world are they getting their money ? Im sure its meant to represent how rich they were but after loosing all their territories i didnt expect them to come back in macedonia with 6 armies lol

I see the exact same thing to a T in my campaign.

Yeap, charging them from the back with other infantry doesn't seem to do much, i think javelins from the back might to the trick.

The phalanx were to me pretty similar to DeI. Invincible from the front but super slow in movements and rather exposed in the back. Best thing is to pepper them with missiles, maybe even divide them or lure them with fast skirmishers. When surrounded and overwhelmed, morale failure still got the job done. Dont forget that destroying the rest of the army and the enemy general will greatly affect them also.

They're balanced fine. Just flank them with javelins and hit them from the back.
