Advent to Galactic and LWOTC
Hello Jedi Commanders!
To begin with, I mod my games a lot but I have never created any and I have great respect for all modders who give their time to allow us to appreciate our favorite games even more!

Since I discovered this mod few years ago, I can't play without it... With a few other mods combined, you can really make a great turn-based strategy game in the Star Wars universe!
Also big fan of Longwar 2, when the WOTC version came out, combining these two mods became my ultimate goal. A big thank, by the way, to the authors of this two mod for the work already accomplished. But not being able to wait any longer for a possible update, I decided to take a look... And I think I managed to make them work together!

Already, if we run the two mods together, all vanilla Advent units will be replaced by Empire units, but not the new ones added by LongWar. New units added by Advent to Galactic do not spawn.
So I modified the .ini a bit! ^^
I found the names of all the units, replaced those of LongWar by those of Advent to Galactic except for the drones (because they are cool) and for the Mutton Elite. This allows corpses to be looted for science and crafting. No idea how to modify that, again I've never done mods...
After about forty hours of testing and balancing, no Advent units spawn and all Empire units added by Advent To Galactic replace units added by LongWar. The Chosens are replaced but keep the skills added by LongWar, so it's great!
No problems so far, we'll see late game but I rather have the impression that it's there... Advent to Galactic Empire and LongWar 2 are united and damn it's good!!! Seriously, I've been having a blast for a week guys!!!

Again a big thanks to all the modders, for their talents, their time and the sense of sharing. You guys are awesome!

Well, now that every Jedi Commander is interested in smashing Imperial scum for a long long war, how did I do it?

First:

- Download this mod:

This permanently prevents LongWar units from spawning.
Then, in the "Config" folder of the mod replace "XComDisableAliens.ini" by the one I provided (link at the bottom of the post)
I have an Advent M2 flamethrower unit (AdvPurifierM2) that spawns from time to time with empire flamethrowerM2s, that's the only weird thing I couldn't modify...so I disabled it. Knowing that there is always the flamthrower M1 and M3, it is not so serious for me. If you want to re-enable it, remove the "+DisableAlien=AdvPurifierM2" line.

Secondly:

Go to the "Config" folder of Long War 2 mod.
Backup the following files:
"XComEncounterLists.ini"
"XComEncounters.ini"
"XComGameData_CharacterStats.ini"
Then replace them with those I provided.
This will allow Advent to Galactic units to spawn instead of LongWar units.

And here is "Advent to Galactic" and "LongWar" together!

I hope this will cheer up some people, who, like me, love Xcom and Star Wars and have long been desperate to see these two mods compatible! Again it's possible that I missed some stuff, I'll keep the post updated if there are any changes.

In addition, there is the list of changes I made. On the left the units of Longwar replaced by those of Advent to Galactic on the right. For those who want to replace one unit with another, take the 3 original LongWar ".ini" files and replace inside each template name of the advent unit with the Empire unit.

Example: For the first line if you made
AdvsentryM1 replace with AdvtrooperM2
this will replace SentryM1 with StormtroopersM2
the in-game unit's name will remain Advent Sentry, but it will have "Advent to Galactic" stats and abilities. I don't know how to change the name.

And yes, you can change everything and face only Stormtroopers or Siths if you wish! ^^
But be careful, you won't be able to access certain research or craft items.
To modify even one unit, you will have to start from scratch with the three original "ini" from LongWar and replace all the template names in the list on the left with the names in the list on the right with your modifications included . To do everything at once on the three files use NotePad. The "replacement" option manages this very well and in less than 2 minutes it's over. I tried to balance the spawns but according to my own taste, so feel free to edit the ini as you wish. This can be done during the campaign, I had no problem doing it.

One problem I'm trying to solve is how to change the hack chance on a unit.
For now it is impossible to hack Advent to Galactic droids because the chances are zero percent.
I know it replaces the base Sectoid, Berserker, Archon, Andromedon and Viper but I don't know how to modify LongWar to change which units can be hacked and at what percentage.
Maybe a little help here ;)

Holy moly, Irakira, THANK you! I was literally looking into how to do this, what to change etc. but I have no experience modding and was entirely lost.

Ah and the addon to replace alien lords works perfectly too! Mara Jade just destroyed my whole squad before going into her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vortex, leaving two of my men alive but in bad shape and shocked for life ^^

I sort of do not understand. I am in the mod config but have no idea how to replace the ini that you provide with the current one. And I am confused by just step one. Is there anyway to make video on this?

ok, so before doing step 1 and 2 I started an operation with sidewinders and naja in it. I then exit, disable all snake units and change with templates on the right side (empire). I boot up, do the same mission and the sidewinders and naja are no longer there but the units I changed them to are not there either. could be the advent forcelevel is too low this early in campaign for the new units or that this only work for post installment genereated missions. Will playtest some more.

anyways, great work, was really looking for a way to do this :)

update: played with it a few hours and it looks like this works with newly generated missions

Quick question- does doing this also let this work in the LWOTC+Mod Jam setup, or would you need more edits? I don't really care if the enemies added by the stuff in Mod Jam don't get converted, just wondering if it would work.

Irakira thank you so much for this post, this is what I was searching for. I am wondering if you could possibly provide a Star Wars playthrough modlist? I am very lost with what other mods to use over the top of the Advent to Galactic mod and the LWOTC that will work without issues...

Is this working? I followed instructions and my units are the base units. I've only tried the Gatecrasher mission on a new game but the enemies are the same. I made all the replacements for the files in the LWOTC mod config and the Choose your enemies one.

LMFAO I downloaded and followed ONLY your instructions without Downloading this mod. I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ airhead.

I know its 2025 and I am having trouble setting up Lwotc with advent to galactic empire
I followed the instructions and replaced the necessary files and when I start none of the enemies spawn, I start a mission then it automatically says completed, wasn't sure if i did something wrong
