V1? As in Version 1? As in you finished this knowing you're going to come back to this you lazy slouch?
Haha, sorta. You see, while going through the files and fixing them up and such, I slowly came to realize that reflective textures do not get replaced for some reason, so you'll notice that slightly reflective tiles, control points, etc. will not be replaced because of this; others just flat out don't replace for no reason I can detect, like snow, or random patches of ground. Because of this, I'll need to wait until Valve updates the replacement system; once that happens though, you can count on me coming in to finish up the textures, along with some other fun ideas I have for the future. (once i gain enough skills that is)

32 maps? Really? If you're going to go through all this trouble, why not just do all 180+ maps?
I want to. However due to mentioned above, certain textures just don't replace for some reason. To make troubles worse, when you have a map that has a big amount of those non replace-able textures, you end up with a shotty ugly looking map. I wanted to avoid that, so I didn't include maps with high amounts of reflective textures, or large textures that needed to be replaced that just wouldn't swap for whatever reason. Other things like Halloween maps, I feel have their spooky aesthetic, and Pyrovision would kind of clash too much with the whole theme and concept of those maps.

Yeah so some of these textures suck. You did a pretty crappy job. Why even try? Loser.
I appreciate any criticisms, as you'll probably notice, some of these new replacement textures, are not Valve quality. And the reason for that, is that this was my first ever mod experience. :steamhappy: I have never done anything with art programs before and never worked with programs like the Pyroland replacement system. This whole thing was a super exhilarating experience and also a bunch of learning expereinces for me too. If you see something I may have done, wrong, better, or want some input, lemme know, as I want this to be as awesome as possible.

Wait a second, some of the stuff was changed too; what gives?
For consistency sake, I have changed a few textures. Added some new ones to help keep words out of Pyroland, and changed a few others to help match the original vision that's displayed in the Meet the Pyro short, such as the trains being pink, and attached traincars being all blue. (You can see this in the background in the short as soon as it goes Pyrovision) Other changes are such as things like cleaning up dirt smudges and other things to help keep the integrity of Pyroland.

LOL! Pyroland?!? Come on now, we all know Pyroland is just some dumb gimmick Valve did for the meet they pyro short, why even waste your time?
I disagree. To me Pyroland is very much an fun experience to help immerse yourself as the Pyro! It's awesome they did it!

Believe it or not, for a lot of new players, one of the first things they are eager to do, is "unlock" pyrovision. For experienced players, pyrovision is this thing that we all have access to, but to newer players, it's something you need to unlock by dominating a player with pyrovision goggles, or be lucky to get a pyroland weapon drop. To them it's something they look forward to and when they get it, they are often very disappointed with the lack of changes it currently offers, due to the lack of map support, which in turn, is the beginning of how newer players start to see a bunch of the unpolished parts of TF2. I want TF2 to be more polished out and this was my first step in helping make it more so.

So, uh, will this mod add back the unused Thermal Thruster pyroland texture?
Curly Bill  [developer] 5 Feb, 2024 @ 9:38pm
@Demomonkey
unfortunately not. Back when i was working on it, part 2 was supposed to be the weapon overhaul. I had plans to add a thermal thruster texture. I know the unused material file exists, but it's mapping was all different so i was originally going to make a custom one.

i remember i had a bunch of fun ideas and alt versions of all the pyro's weapons, with the thermal thruster being giant fireworks

i believe https://gamebanana.com/mods/206462 has a version of the TT with original scrapped texture reworked to fit the new mapping
