STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Age of Legends v1.341: TOTAL IMMERSION

The First GC playing as Mandos (my on-going playthrough)
It's a (Very Hard) start, 1 planet start in the middle of the map, Era 2 only I think. I don't think you can progress era here.

Mandos have some strong infantry. So I'll be telling you to spend all your money on them right? Wrong.

- Using their infantry to raid, you can take a lot of surrounding planets and destroy their space defences with low cost. I recommend militia for cheap frontliners but mainly squads of Mandalorian Commandos (not super commandos with the jetpack, the ones who can A. Use sensor ping. B. Sprint. C. Hijack vehicles. D. Drop forward command post beacons. E. Shoot at the range of a sniper, F. throw detonators and G. Raid any planet...anywhere...) Two squads of these guys is best. Then play the game like that old Commandos game.
- Build lots of turrets during the raid so you can hide behind them and hold the planet easier afterwards. Turrets in this mod are cheap and strong.
- After the raid, build a barracks first and then all mining on these planets.

On medium difficulty, I've noticed they only send one or two units to try deal with your garrison of a barracks and the small team you sent to raid.
The barracks garrison is quite strong and versatile. Frontliners, mine-layers and anti-vehicle squads. Combined with the turrets, it's easy. One sent an AT-ST and infantry squads and it was a simple rock-paper-blaster win.

- Wait until their defending fleet realises there's nothing to defend and retreat to move in and build a station. (sometimes they leave a few ships defending, but most will pull back if they can)
- Save your credits buying a strong ground army/expensive canderous tanks and instead spend on your defence fleets to cover your borders.

Other notes:
- Theres a glitch where even if you win a Raid, the planet is still theirs. Just send another raid, you'll get your units back. Same happens if you stole a vehicle as the CoMandos. Just send another raid, destroy the vehicle with your now combined x2 raid instead of capturing it.
- Losing a battle destroys the turrets. Winning keeps them, unless the above glitch happens.
- Some regular mando infantry units simply don't add to the ground battle's pop cap. Go nuts.
- You can select Anti-Aircraft guns and target enemy ground vehicles. Not very effective against other units, but it's came in clutch a few times and also does fine against buildings.
- In space battles, there can sometimes be a 3rd faction outpost, hostile to you both. Let them fight. Let them wear down their shields, hulls and fighter squadrons until one of them is defeated, then move in.
- Use the CoMando's forward command post beacon as bait. And always aim for destroying their buildings. Next point is an example.

Specific Planets:
- The land raid on Garqi is a very hard one because there's not many buildpads to hide behind and only one command post. Currently playing and they have two tank squads, barracks garrison and droidekas which chew up your strongest infantry fast. I failed this raid twice and won on the third:

Send two squads of CoMandos. When the match starts, drop both your forward command post beacons on the right side and north side of the command post and pull to the left.
When the droidekas or whoever comes for you starts attacking the beacons, run in and defeat them. My droidekas had tunnel vision and focused on the beacons and perished. There are supposed to be 4 droidekas in a squad so be patient. Stormtroopers may also show up.
The buildpads are to the right of the command post. Keep walking you wont miss em.
Then approach the base at the top right corner. Pick off the infantry with range if you can.
Sacrifice your thermal detonator troops to destroy the building. It may still take another try depending on the casualties you take, but if the building is gone, so is a large chunk of their defending forces in the next run!

- The land raid on Ord Trasi is super hard. No build pads unless you can reach the right side or the enemy's base. There's a turbo lazer tower in the middle-right area. But even with sprint you might not make it and capture it in time. I had to fight Droidekas and air vehicles. Instead, this may be a regular ol' fleet battle+ground battle invasion. That's how I did it.

[If I play more, I'll add more until this disclaimer becomes a "I won! Victory for Mandalore! section"]
Thanks to the mod author for making something really fun to play. I always used to play Empire in vanilla and a few other mods but always wanted a fully playable Mando faction <3

TLDR:
The strat is to raid planets with commandos. This will destroy their space defences and allow you to build a barracks and mining - don't get anything else.
Use that money to improve fleet, buy your raid attempts and push your border.
Expand towards a level 3 space port (I went to the left side and wiped out Pentastar, dark blue faction)
Just have a bunch of core planets behind your border pump out units.
Then a bunch of ground planets with enemy fleets stuck on them waiting to be wiped.

Update:
I've wiped out Pentastar, working on another faction.
So yeah, this is the strat.
My economy is solid. I'm pumping out the Tier 3 ships now. I'm attacking very often too.
I don't really see the enemy fighting back much on Medium. So maybe I'll bump it up to hard next time.

To the mod author:
Thanks for the hours of free fun. Playing a Mando faction that actually feels like mandos is cool.
My only complaint is the default music gets real boring and the heroes are useless in space (so with my strategy, I'm not even using them)
Endorsed and liked. :luv:

I really wish there were more campaigns with them available, especially the larger ones!
