Note about graphical bugs:
There is currently one known graphical bug that may occasionally occur when the Grand Canyon spawns next to a river source

Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do about it (it's just how the engine handles water), but it shouldn't occur too often for it to ruin your civving experience.

Is there no way to make it so that the Grand Canyon never spawns adjacent to a river?

It already doesn't: the problem is I can't stop it from spawning next to a river source. Take a look at the image to see what I mean: the river itself is technically one tile away.

I understand, that's unfortunate. Thank you so much for your hard work either way!

How about the opposite? Make sure it *always* spawns next to a river. Specifically, in the middle of a 4-hex straight section of river oriented such that it's two ends connect with the two end sections of the river.

That way, the canyon will appear as it really is, a section of the river. The drawback is, of course, more coding to place it and if there are no 4-hex straight river sections then it can't be placed at all.

Yeah, why can't it be a PART of the river?

Because it's not possible without it looking ugly, nothing I can do about it.

Does it have to be placed in a four section river tile? Should it be on desert or plains terrain? Should it be on mountain, hills, or flat terrain?
