RPG Overhaul - The New Perk Order
Feedback and Questions
I was going to post in a feedback thread but...

@bstar
Do you not support Yuno's Shadow Ops specs? I know you have a similar pack yourself, but Yuno's is the only thing I've found that offers Cool Under Pressure as a class perk rather than a GTS perk. Yuno's specs all sit at the bottom of the ability screen, not integrated with the rest of the abilities as you've grouped them.

I realize CUP may still be in the GTS, but I frankly don't even build the GTS any more after setting up a starting squad size of 6 with Squad Select and noticing at one point that the GTS perks seemed a little awkward since there wasn't one for every RPGO class. I'll certainly build it again in the future to get squad size increases, but teams of 6 suit me well for as far as I ever make it into a campaign before an inevitable restart to tweak my mod setup.

Basically, CUP is a prime ability for any overwatch spec, as everyone knows, and while I'm probably going to ditch Yuno's Shadow Ops pack, I'm curious if you'd consider including Cool Under Pressure as a perk in the main chart for one of your specs?

Just saw this thread. To give you a quick answer: No, I do not currently support Yuno's Shadow Ops plugin and I do not plan to add it to The New Perk Order. As for Cool Under Pressure: I agree, it is a very important overwatch perk, but since it is already available via the GTS, I see no reason to add it back into one of the specializations (which would also mean that another perk has to go).

That said, you can very easily add the perk back in yourself in the .ini files.

I guess this shows how little I rely on the GTS any more. I have a couple of question though, related to why I don't really build it until much later than vanilla now -- If a GTS perk doesn't specify a class (Cool Under Pressure) does it apply to every soldier? My assumption is that it would only apply to one class, but it doesn't state either way.

And for the GTS perks that do specify a class: does it apply to any soldier who takes a single skill from that class, or do they have to qualify as that class in terms of title (having mostly Sniper perks to receive the title, and therefore get Ballistics Expert, for example)?

First of all, RPG Overhaul soldiers do not count as different classes. While there is a system in place that gives them different class names and icons according to their perk picks, it doesn't actually change the fact that they all have the class "Soldier" or "UniversalSoldier" if you need to know the template name.

RPG Overhaul has a function that patches all GTS perks (apart from the hero classes' ones I think) to 1) require a "Soldier" with a certain rank instead of a specialist, sharpshooter, etc. and 2) makes these perks apply to ALL of your troops with the "Soldier" class. What perks they pick is currently irrelevant.

To compensate for the fact that these perks are applied to every single one of your soldiers, the cost for all GTS perks has been increased to 300 supplies. This means that your choice of GTS perks can have a defining effect on your overall combat strategy. With the GTS perks added by other class mods, there can be quite a few options, not all of them balanced but that's how it is at the moment. The GTS might be changed at a future date but it's not currently planned.

Had a question about the order. I noticed that you chose to put the close combat and melee separate from each other rather than near each other (adjacent even) and was curious why? Also could we get a list of supported plug ins please. Thank you for making this great mod to help us all create our custom classes how we desire.

-Edit
I should make note that I am aware of the specialities that are supported assuming the listed ones are all of them.
