The Bunker for some reason keeps crashing my game
So, I've had the typical framerate problem, which I've managed to fix, but now I have a problem where the underground bunker, basically most of the map, is causing my game to boot me to desktop.

I have about 16GBs of RAM, and a Radeon RX 5700, yet this map continues to be problematic even though games like RDR2, a game which is notoriously poorly optimized for PC, runs at over 60 fps smoothly at near full graphics. I don't know what black magic you pulled to have this game work on your pc but I need guidance on how to do the same. I have a screenshot series which takes place on this map (before the crashes prohibited me from entering the bunker) and I don't want to just write it off as a failed project. Any help would be appreciated, thanks c:

Sorry to hear that. Your memory and GPU should be more than sufficient for running the map. Assuming your CPU is around the same level, I wouldn't expect your hardware to be a problem.

Have you tried temporarily disabling all other addons and then restarting GMod? That's the best first step towards verifying whether an issue is caused by the map itself or something else.

I'm currently going through my addons and deleting any that might be causing errors, will try that if it still doesn't work. I'll let you know if trying it doesn't help matters either

So, quick update: I've made my addon list go down from 1010 to about 650 and still can't load the map. Disabling all my addons worked, but the moment I reinstalled that amount the problem's come back. The addons that are left are basically models, maps, a few weapon packs and some stuff to help with screenshotting like additional tools and whatnot

Are you saying that the game now crashes while loading the map? Or does it still crash when you enter the underground areas?

If disabling everything else fixes the issue, I suspect that you might be running into GMod's memory limit. Generally speaking, a 32-bit application can only use up to 4 GB of memory, regardless of how much more your system might have. If you switch to the 64-bit branch of GMod, it would greatly increase the amount of memory that the game can use, which might fix the crashes you're experiencing. You can switch by opening GMod's properties in Steam, going to the Betas tab and then selecting x86-64. Just keep in mind that this is a beta branch, so you may encounter other issues. From what I've seen, however, it works quite well.

Nah, it was still the same issue. I managed to get my addon list down to around 450 and it seemed to have fixed the problem. No clue what addon was causing the crashes, but the problem looks to be sorted

Good to hear you solved it. Happy screenshotting :)

I don't have a particularly large amount of addons, so I might be able to narrow it down. Among the addons you were disabling, did you also disable hd props?

Ahhh don't worry about it man, the issue's long since been fixed! Thanks for the help though!

I found the issue
The addon JersonGaming's Model/Real RNG

That was what was causing the crashes

For what it's worth, I don't think it's necessarily caused by one addon in particular. It might just be the combined memory load of several resource-heavy addons together that's too much for the engine to handle.
