Dark Carnival: Remix
Kyle's Review of "Dark Carnival: Remix" - 4/5
A fascinating take on the original. 4/5 stars.

Dark Carnival: Remix is the kind of campaign I'm surprised I don't see more often, taking the premise of an official campaign and filling it with new, original level design and cut content from L4D2's development. I was initially worried the new and old elements would clash, but the level design feels completely natural. What worked in Dark Carnival still works here, and everything has been expanded. Levels are longer and more open -- I especially love Map 4, which I'd say is a definitive improvement over the original.

Despite nailing the big picture stuff, the issues are in the details. Players are silent and speedy moving through flowing water, graffiti and chatter is minimal, and a lot of the scripted dialogue is played with no lip syncing or subtitles, among other gripes. I acknowledge some of these problems were unsolvable until the Last Stand Update, but my point still stands.

Nitpicking aside, you won't regret downloading this. Try it!

the problem without the survivors lip syncing with the words can be solved with the dark carnival addendum mod

I agree with your review, although the only thing about the map that just kills it for me is the finale.
It's so painfully boring and annoying with no specials and barely any commons during the concert with nothing but running back and forth. The map is better at the cost of the finale being completely ruined.
