Lag issue for Krogthar
Krogothar 6 minutes ago
The lag happens regardless of the number of people online. It happens when every single boat and structure on the server is repaired, docked, undamaged and safe.

The only mod we have that adds things is peachy ship decor and the jukebox mod.

Peachy does indeed add alot of items, I have checked all the mods we used for anyone who may have ran into this issue. So far it just seems to be my one dang server lol.

What boggles my mind is I can move every ship to another server, 500+ crew, 250 animals, 11 ships, 23 players and the kitchen sink ... 15 of my servers do not experience this at all even with everything there. ONLY the damn freeport home server ... I am so lost lol.

so, this last line is really confusing. if you are saying you move everything to another server.. you mean that if you acually move all boats, crew, and everything on them.. to another GRID .. you don't see this issue??? my next comment is going to sound like i'm doubting you, but I'm just trying to understand..

how in the world would you coordinate a test like that? moving everything to another grid and all? did you acually do process that to test this out? or are you saying you moved it to a different physical server?

if you do move everything to another server, did you test to make sure the repair feature was still working on the 2nd grid, or was it possably not doing those. (dmg a ceiling, anchor, wait to see if it repairs)

I mean our entire company moves everything via boats trips across server grids to any of the connecting grids. Once we have double checked nothing is left on the freeport north island (and i admin check the other 3 islands for anything from other players, via flying around the map) We spend some time on the other grid. Sailing, crafting, building, fighting ghost ships, etc. The lag does not seem to happen at all. It seems isolated to our freeport.

I have tested a few more things, made a backup of the server, removed your mod from freeport, restarted. The lag is gone. Re enable your mod, run the backup, lag is back.

The problem is why the lag does not exist on any of the other grids but only happens on the freeport grid. You are welcome to join our server cluster, take one of our ships and see for yourself.

It sounds like a farfetched story I know, but the proof is here for you to verify.

That being said, no matter what happens, I do appreciate you taking the time to help us with this.

Edit - All 16 of our servers (Grids) are on a seperate physical machine, We pay survival servers for that feature.

I can also give you our ini files and our json to check.

Edit - the lag is not unplayable as it does not lock up the server or cause any ill effects, it is not even a rubberband type of lag. It is like the entire server stops for half a second to a full second every 60 seconds like clockwork.

does the lag you are talking about happen in the freeport port .. while the ships are all moved to the the non-freeport grid?

as a test, would you be able to modify the map to make one of the other grids you are saying isn't a problem into a freeport / home grid? I know I can do that on my own server as a host in at my house, but hosting services don't always have the ability to modify the map without a server wipe, so be careful with that test, but curious if that's an option.

I can set another to a home port but it requires a wipe through my server host.

The lag does not happen when everything is moved to another grid.

Edit - Sorry for the late response, took a while to test that.

I am going to test something, I am going to remove all mods from server, clean the mod folder, then reinstall them fresh from steam. see if that fixes anything. (only thing I havent tried.)

Ok I have done the following and also have a request.

I have cleaned my mods folder, restarted the Grid with only your mod and nothing else. The lag remains, it is also now on other Grids as I did a clean mod folder on each of them as well. Which leads me to believe you were indeed correct when you said the repair wasn't working on other Grids of my cluster.

I have no idea what to do from this point on. I am willing to test any ideas or changes you have and make.

As for the request. I am not a mod maker for atlas, I have an idea of how much work it takes, but I am not skilled at doing the work. A long winded way of saying thank you for all your hard work.

Would it be possible to get a version of this mod with just the powerstone animals, increased xp for tames (exceeding the lvl 29 max tame or no xp gains) and the gunpowder/fertilizer fix ?

I love all the mod but the lag is driving me insane.

I'm not really understanding your request, when you can allready seperate this using the INI settings. I mean, if you only want the fixes, the tames, power stone animals . .then only enable those in the INI . keep in mind, I'm still working on the inceased xp / lvls one for higher lvl dinos to bypass the hard lock. .hope to have a full fix by this weekend, but it's alot of testing to get that fully working.

i have a few ideas on the repair fixes, but need to build out a loging piece to capture the behavior. for now, you can simply disable the repair option in the INI to stop the lag issue you are having till I can get around to that.

Alrighty will do. I have also set a server aside to test things for you if you so desire.

I was asking for a seperate package of mods because I wonder if my problem is just the ini settings not working.

if you change the INI for the reapirs, and it stops repairing and stops the lag, then the INIs are clearly working so I wouldn't think that would be an issue.
