Watch for easy kills (young, old small animals) might be a bad idea to target a wolly rhino first :D

Build 1 skin dryer. Dry the skins you hunted. You only need 2 dry skins for the crafter. You might figure something out ;-)

Try looking for fresh kills. Multiple corpses are left behind in big scuffles. This should provide you with enough meat, hide, and bones to make up for the lack of hunting ability in the beginning. Look around lakes and in the plains for some of the bigger kill sites, you should find both predator and prey corpses. Make sure you have your knife, and don't use it up before you build the Crafter; i.e. build the Crafter first, and you won't run out of knives.

The first thing you need to build is a skin dryer. Hunt a reindeer, goat or anything easy. You will get 1-2 skins from those. Crafter only needs 2 skins. So after only hunting 2 animals you should be able to build the crafter.
