I noticed it is possible to pull too many resources out of the drill and cause it to detach. It is also possible that the drill fills up with too many resources and can't produce a required component causing it to detach. The lack of resource a management not only makes the drill inefficient but also makes it unreliable.

Is a vanilla non-script solution possible for this? I have tried it myself with conveyor sorters and dedicated assemblers to each component but it is still not reliable nor efficient.
