Finding and Deleting a Planet
This will be a very basic guide to finding and deleting a planet from your save. These steps can be used to generate new ore on an asteroid belt or even test for mod compatibility.

Step 1 | Start Starbound
We need to do some work in the game to properly locate our world that we wish to remove.

Step 2 | Get Your Coordinates
The first step is finding where you are in the galaxy, all planet files are generated using two main things the solar system cords and the relevant ring from the sun. Follow the steps below to get your cords.

1. Access your ship seat.
2. Click the icon with the map marker that says coordinates.
3. Wright down your cords in a document make sure they are all correct.

Step 3 | Finding your planet number.
Next thing you need to do is count what ring the planet is on start with the number 1 for the first ring closet to the sun and count to the outer ring like 1, 2, 3, and so on.

Add this number to your document below your cords.

Now if your planet is on say a moon or is a moon of a gas giant then you will need to count how many rings out from the main planet it at too, make sure you type this number below the solar system ring number.

Step 4 | Searching for your file
First thing you need to do is go to the path below.
\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\storage\universe

Now type your cords into the search bar for the folder and all relative cords for the solar system should come up. We will be using the cords below.

-507549053 (for x)
983867515 (for y)
-248555443 (for z)

"windows search should look like below."
-507549053 983867515 -248555443

If you have explored all of the planets then you will want to find the planet with the ring numbers you have listed below.

For example
We have a solar system with 7 rings Our planet is on the 6th ring and is orbiting a gas giant on the 2nd ring, the id should look like something below

-507549053_983867515_-248555443_6_2
(6 is the solar system ring | 2 is the planet ring)

Another example would be for a planet on the first ring of the solar system.
-507549053_983867515_-248555443_1
(1 is the solar system ring.)

Only delete the .world file for the planet you wish to remove. do not delete the .system file, I am not sure what would happen if you deleted the .system file so don't do it.

Step 5 | Load Starbound
The last thing you want to do is load your game again and teleport down to the planet and you should have a new generation on your planet.

Alternate method:

Go to the planet in question.
Exit the game.

Wait 1 to 5 minutes. (sometimes this is best done jsut by starting the game again, for others, just wait)
Start the game, and load the character.

Beam back to your ship. (do nothing else)
Exit the game again.

Go to the Universe folder.
Sort by Date.
Delete the newest one.
Grofit!

Yes yes, this is less precise, and has the potential to nuke the solar system.
(that's why the second start and exit, to make sure the game "modified" the files for the offending planet last)

EDIT: allso, yes, I'm aware of how old this info-post is.
I've met new players insisting that what OP posted is the "only" way to do it, and they freaked out when I proved them wrong with a friend's server.

Thanks for the post. I have used a similar method to do with the order of the saves but like you said its not always possible even more so if friends are in your world as well this can load more planets as the data is saved to the host not the client so there is a chance that if you have players on your save that it can give false data. Needless to say it is useful if you have no one on at the time when deleting narrowing the search down for sure.
