could you make a hardcore version?
im not sure why people want to take away the fun by removing all the elements that make it challenging. could you make a version that adds additional raiders? making the plague real, and the blizzards deadly. forcing you to actually trying to survive.

Then give me some more input. Here a few topics:

Personally, I don't find the raiders in the game really challenging. You press a button, make a click and then wait until it's over. Press the button again .... I think a lot of people forget that and then people starve to death XD

What do you mean additional raiders? Larger numbers or more frequent raids? Large numbers just decimate your village and frequent raids disturb the processes so much that nothing is done afterwards. Sounds more like punishment than challenge.

I think the plague is great, I think it fits well into the game. But how do you imagine that? Should everyone just get sick all the time? Then the settlement just dies out.

Blizzards are deadly, especially without the right clothes. Should Blizzard just be all winter long? Every winter?

I've been thinking about a scenario where it's always winter. So no domesticated animals, no straw, no grain, no leather, so you stay with your fur tents and hunt animals and fish for survival. Sounds like a challenge, but would certainly be super boring.

For this to be fun, the goal must be achievable.

Do you want to try something out?

Ah. Sorry matey. Actually, hunting alone can get you pretty far. As long as the animal spawn is enough. I once went on the flatlands scenario and settled in an area thst appearently had a very low spawn rate. My villagers half died just going to the nearest pond where alot of animals spawned. But fur tents alone aint fun i can tell you that muvh. I had 100 pop when i moved from fur tents to mud houses. The number of fur i needed was driving me crazy. I hunted animals just to keep the tents maintained. The amount of wasted food :(

But one more question, what is wrong with the Everwinter locations? Everything is flat there.

Hey sorry i couldnt respond. Im an old user of steam and my accumelated forum bans caused me to have a community ban. It just got lifted. The problem with flatlands is that there are only mountains on one side. Resources arnt all around you. Which means that instead of a circular degeneration of ore's, you now got a straight line of ore degenration. Which means that you need to go further and further for ores faster than when the ores are scattered around you. Flatlands are perfect for building huge cities but the progress of finding resources is becoming progressively harder than on normal maps. Also, on normal maps, rivers and lakes are closer to eachother which means theres more animals spawning nearby. On flatlands, you got rivers running all over the map, but relatively far away from eachother. Again, flatlands good for building huge cities but animals only stay near the water. Theres no water on a huge flat grassland.

Most of what you say is absolutely true when you start at the place where you spawn. The nice thing about the Flatlands is that you can walk around and start building anywhere. For example, on a corner or a mountain that, unlike the base game, overflows with ore. So instead of mining ore in 4 different directions, it's 2 directions or one, but there's an ass full of ore.

I also have more mountains in Everwinter and Medium Flatlands. Have you tried Everweinter already? This is actually the hardcore version that hurts and makes you fight for your survival :D
