In Act 2, you could look at the chickens that 1) turn into a phoenix egg and 2) are murdered by Little Peep. I know for the former it appears in some endings, but that's kind of lame. There are also the Act 2 witch's familiars in and around her cabin.
There's the Magister dog in Act 1 near the island where Windego is that lost their master and is just mourning forever.
You can help the second group in the unmodded game, it's a regular side quest (at least you can extinguish the fire and restore one of them to human form). As for the first, you can sort of do something for them, but you can't remove the curse.
That's definitely a loose end worth looking into. They slightly changed that story with the DE, but the cat still gets left behind when you teleport the girl out. Thanks for the suggestion!
The second set you can help.
Just cast Bless on them and they stop burning
ok sorry for memeing it was the only way. alright so my idea is this for a good ending for the chickens simple include an optional stage of blessing the egg when you find it. so that when it is returned to it's mother it will hatch as a "blessed" chicken and it's mother sends you to bring it to it's father the magic rooster to train it in the art of idk magic roostering?
