Empire at War: Remake 4.0 – [OFFICIAL]
game freezes at exactly month 39 and one bar away from becoming next month
title

no matter what I do my save freezes at this time. the game doesn't crash, i can try to reload the save, but everything just stops moving - time, units, etc

Happens to me at month 135 as well. Everything freezes.

freezes have been and are from the very beginning, the creators do not know and do not want to know what causes them (everything is good, dont ask)... version 4.0 despite some good ideas, graphics etc is unsuccessful, it is unstable, slow and still contains many bugs. I think the creators got lost and version 4.0 outgrew them (it ceased to be EaW R and became a patchwork and an abomination taken from various mods and games). I've played many successful and unsuccessful mods but I've never seen one so "tangled" and I'm not surprised that it's hard for the creators to fix it because in fact it would be necessary to change the whole ground combat again and get rid of the elements for which EaW AotR+ was the idea, because they are redundant, pointless and don't match the Remake version, moreover, playing in 4.0 is pointless because sooner or later it will freeze anyway and we will lose all progress ... if someone likes R, it's best to play 2.3 with fixes (with ground) or 3.5 (only space) depending on player preferences - at least they are fast and stable.

developers can't help, this is a known issue since R 4.0 was released. this version is unstable, slow and resource consuming. so many changes (bad- increase tech lvls, space stations inspired by TR+ and su ked ground battles coppied from AotR+ and good- new ideas, money, factions, visuals and voices etc) have been made to it that finding the cause is beyond them- as well as the whole idea, which is a half-success. playing R 4.0 was and still is pointless- because in the end you'll waste your time anyway and the game will crash or freeze... it's better to play stable and fast versions R 2.3+ fix (with ground) or 3.5 (space only) or AC 2.5 depending on your preferences. R 4.0 a year after the premiere still freezes and contains a lot of bugs, the repair of which is almost impossible because the implemented elements and their numbers is big and hard to fix. problem is huge- game is old, mod is bad* (imo isnt still R but crazy mods variations) and all pc systems/configurations r different... pseudo R 4.0 was and still is (imo) Grand Sh t- nothing help u if game freeze or crash- is like demo- playable but not to end and can frustrate after few GCs. (i play lots of mods- bad and good but this one is joke)

Extremely disappointing that the galactic conquest freezes have not been fixed. The mod is unplayable.

Is it a freeze or is it the bug where three factions try to fight it out in one spot and the game freaks the ♥♥♥♥ out?

Make many saves and save often. When this happens reload a save game from one or 2 saves back and it should fix the problem. At least it does for me.

Might be the latter as the game is still running and you can interact with it to a degree. Just things don't move around any more and time doesn't progress.

This is a common bug with all mods that have more AI controlled factions added according to the TR devs who talked about the issue since they do have it.
Basically it's caused by some base game issue where 2 AI will fight but the auto-resolve leaves one unit left on the ground or in space of the defeated faction even though the new faction becomes the planet owner and can start building. That unit is there but is invisible to all.
Then a 3rd AI faction will attack that planet and like always when the AI battle it is auto-resolved. However because there's a 3rd faction present the game cant calculate that auto-resolve and the game is on an endless loop of autoresolving that fight with 0 losses on all sides.

This is why the game acts like it's paused. If you were to use the debug build of the game you could swap factions to the offending factions and play out the battle as one of those factions or if you swap to the hidden unit's faction you can sell it. Then swap back to your faction save and return to the normal build of the game.
That's the only workaround any mod has for the issue unless Petroglyph makes a fix to allow 3-way galactic auto-resolve or they fix the engine error that randomly causes not all units to be wiped out on a galactic auto-resolve defeat.
Never comes up in vanilla because there's only 2 AI factions at any given time.

Earlier freezes happen mostly in AC 2.4 and for this was Defreezer who was launched on saved file and fix this file. AC 2.5 and higher R 2.3, 3.5 has too 3+ factions like many more mods and never freeze (crash sometimes but is simple- game is too old) r fast and stable- this pseudo R 4.0 G Sh t- sick variation is unstable, slow and u dk wtf now. (year+ after premiere and this pseudo mod still is unplayable)

I've not lied at all but you clearly have some anger issues and bias given the insults and name calling rather than a logical discussion. So i know whatever i say will have change nothing for you. I recommend you find another mod that's to your liking rather than hang out here where clearly you find no enjoyment. Have a good day.

Noone insults u / your work to now has nothing to do with logic - you've been lying and bs us for a year... i have the right to my opinion because its uncomfortable truth- the final product is still unplayable and bad, more - your answers are getting dumb and dumber etc (u want to enjoy unplayable mod after a year?)... someone has to tell the truth and it won't be nice but it's obvious... after year you really have no idea where the problem is and how to fix it. you made a bad mod which is a patchwork of others with wrong ideas- i suggest not lying to people anymore because everyone who plays for a long time knows de facto u do nothing what helps. you have introduced changes in your pathetic pseudo R mod like Netfix to the Witcher/ Blood Origin etc - we all know how it ended and with what effect, it suggests less lies and stupidity and more work or moment of truth / project cut and rework or cancellation- good work, maybe next year you will make it... i wish u good health - u need it to finish young man... have a good year.
