With the ammount of fighter spam from the AI, specially with lvl 3 space stations or Golans, the couple of assault wings from the Exectutor, Anihilator and co. are just way to few for a ship that costs 100 pop.
Add a fleet commander or hero to the fleet, maybe an interdictor (cuz the AI tends to instantly run when you show up with those things) and you have almost no room for fighters or anti-fighter stuff.

Also TIE-Assault Wings just suck in general. I'd prefare a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of regular squadrons.
