How to expand and difficulty.

I'm trying to learn the mod playing as the Empire on normal difficulty. The planets bordering your's are occupied by massive fleets and armies making expansion impossible.

To make matters worse the Empire starts off completely fragmented for some reason making consolidating your forces at the start impossible.

A combined fleet of Gladiator and Victory can deal with those Republic Hardliner space defenses. Good luck fighting the ground battle though...
