Improving dino's mood?

So I accidentally hit my carno in a fight instead of the turtle we were fighting... yeah, of course he's pissed at me. He's sleepy and I left some meat in him before logging out, is that going to improve his mood a bit or do I just have to wait for him to eventually forgive me?
