RimPy Linux only detects the Linux version and not Windows.exe
Hi All, the Linux RimPy edition only detects the RimWorldLinux of RimWorld, is there any settings I can change so it detects the RimWorldWin64.exe so I can run it with Proton?

I'm also curious about this. I recently switched from native to proton in an effort to bypass the harmony crash. It worked for my purposes but now I can't get RimPy to recognize my Game Folder.

You would need to find the alternative save folder for proton,
/home/<username>/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/294100/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/Config

then save the xml here and then run rimworld using a shortcut (not rimpy start button)
That's what I've got for my Config Folder too. What's your Game Folder set to? I keep getting an error when I try to export or save with RimPy.

Wrong Pathes
Game Folder: Bad
Config Folder: OK
Mods Folder: OK

When I open up RimPy it pulls my current modlist no problem and the GameFolder is set to where RimWorldWin64.exe is. Same place it was on Linux.

RimPy linux doesn't detect the exe

you need to run it from steam or desktop shortcut
Ah sorry I misunderstood the purpose of your post. I wasn't trying to run the game through RimPy, I was just trying to get RimPy to save a modlist as an xml.

I found a solution to my problem as well.

- Reinstall Rimworld on native linux
- Sort with RimPy and export a config.xml to desktop
- Reinstall Rimworld on Proton
- Replace Config.xml in /pfx with the one on desktop

Thanks for taking the time to write me back. I'm sorry I filled up your thread with a tangential issue. I had assumed there was a connection between RimPy not recognizing RimWorldWin64.exe and RimPy not recognizing the game folder that RimWorldWin64.exe is in.

You can also run the WIndows version of RImPy on Linux and it works just fine.

Yeah, some features like that do not work is what I discovered as well. A shame, but at least it still works for manipulating the mod list, import and export included.

Did you try to run WIndows version on Linux, instead of Linux version?
JerzyButPolish 23 Jul, 2021 @ 7:17am
Yes I tried running the windows version on Linux and it was able to sort the mods but the downloader requires steamcmd to create symlink in NTFS had to use the Linux version/ Steam to download the mods

If you guys just want to get around the crash with Harmony you can use Harmony Fix for Penguins -- https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2149016328

Huh, didn't know something like that existed. Neat and thanks for sharing!

To everyone in this thread, you can directly save the XML into the compatdata folder by selecting in in the latest RimPy Linux.
