Ideas and Suggestions
Got ideas for features, traits, backstories, or anything else that you'd like to see? Post them here!

Working on:
  • Queens
  • Reproduction (related to Queens)

Considering:
  • Specialized ants -- maybe
  • Toxic bites, poison, or venom -- maybe, and only if specialized ants are implemented
  • Ant nutrient paste as a starter tech or accessible as very early research
  • Antinium should have a small negative moodlet for discomfort when they have to sleep lying down in a normal bed-- definitely want to do this but not sure how yet
  • Dual wield-- I really like this idea but it looks complicated. Maybe. Probably not.
  • Regen paste so that Antinium can regenerate limbs-- Maybe. Possibly ties in with a Queen
  • Fake antennae that non-ants can wear to boost psychic sensitivity-- probably, ties in with Queens

Ants based on different species. Some ants in real life have livestock, others like leafcutters, use leaves to farm mold. Some species of ant steal the brood of other colonies and then raise them as slave workers. Also, ants that sting should have a bonus to melee, while ants that spray acid should get shooting bonuses.

Ants that have very slow hunger decrease, and maybe some day the ability to produce food for others. HoneyPot ants.

A method of hive-like reproduction. This can be done by some sort of egg-sac building or a queen pawn just to name a couple examples.

The Antinium's antennae should give them an enhanced sense of sight, and to balance this out you could decrease their movement seed due to their heavy natural armor.

be able to upgrade your colonists in the late game to centenium. enhancing their organs and such

@Kittles --Specialized ants would be cool. Into the maybe pile! They would be based story ant specialties, not irl ant specialties

@Star~Verse --HoneyPot ants wouldn't fit well for this mod

@Angus Beef --I would like to eventually add reproduction, and am currently trying to work out the specifics.

@JellyDad -- google told me that ants use antennae for touch and for communication. I linked them to hearing because that's the closest thing in game

@GrimKhan-- Centenium's currently in there as a backstory. Do we really know much about them yet in canon?

good point, alternate suggestion, split up the antinium into their respective hives like the steel one or the partially flying one. this could be backstories now (like being a steel antinium gives a bonus to crafting skill) and can be biologically later.

Grim: There's a few things along those lines I'm considering, but probably not as specialized /split up as you're picturing

tarknight: No. In cannon they continuously get attacked by monsters, including giant insects, that dig up from below. Really the best thing would be to find a way to increase the infestation chance for ants, but I doubt anybody wants that!
If people want ants to dual wield shouldn't they just get a separate mod for it?

There should be a new technology that the Antinium start with that gives them access to a primitive nutrient past dispenser, for all your ant cannibalism needs. This way I can have a low tech run while still being able to mash up raiders into a fine paste.

Additionally, what would be the feasibility for a wall shrine item, which would function similarly to the wall mirror mod, that Antinium factions could use instead of graves or caskets? At the end of the day it would be a re-skinned 1x1 grave, with the only possible hookup being that you couldn't actually bury the fallen Antinium colonist there (because they're going in the paste pit)

1. This feels like it was already on the list at some point. It should be. Adding it.

2. I'll check out that mod, but probably not. For now you gotta actually bury them if you want to pay respects to their graves

Have the ants sleep normally in beds, but get a mood debuff whenever they have too sleep laying down. This should help fight the "look like they are still standing when dead or downed" bug. The standing animation would then be reserved for when they are suing their special beds.

@Seven - Haven't forgotten about that! This is a very good idea for handling it, but the posture tweak is trickier than it looks (currently handled by Humanoid Alien Races). It's also lower priority because it's a more aesthetic bug (but still really annoying)
