Joker Movie Review and Thoughts [SPOILER ALERT]
Joker (2019) movie is a tragic mental awareness movie in which a guy gets beaten and broken down. He hits rock bottom that he changes for the worst and loses his sanity. Joaquin Phoenix acting ability is fantastic. Arthur Flecks's sadness and misery is portrayed perfectly.

That’s, right, Murray. I’m not political. I’m just trying to make people laugh.
Despite what others have said, the movie has very little things to say on politics. The Joker even said he is apolitical and doesn't care. The movie is told from his perspective and Arthur doesn't care about the politics on Gotham City. Incels Rise Up? None of that in the movie. The most you can get is a political message from the left in which the 1% needs to give back to society to help the 99%. Occupy wall street etc etc. Because we live in a society and we should help each other.

Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?
There are no true main bad guys or antagonist in the film. The kids that beat him up? Just kids with bad parenting. Same goes for the rich kids. His mom was delusional and mentally ill. His mom's boyfriend was bad but is a very minor character. Thomas Wayne acted very normal, except for the punch and calling poor people "clowns". Alfred Pennyworth was trying to protect Bruce. His co-workers wanted to help but ratted him out the moment he gets him trouble to protect themselves. Talk show host Murray is just doing his (maybe unethical) job and only called Joker out because he broke the show's rules.Unless you include his mental illness and uncontrollable laughter by childhood brain injury as an "antagonist". Or SOCIETY as an "antagonist". I guess it shows that for some people, a little bit of impolite gesture can hurt others more painfully than we can imagine. Arthur only spirals into being "evil" after he fired the 2nd shot, in which it was not in self defence anymore, but you can't really blame him on that since he is mentally ill.

All I have are negative thoughts.
It's hard to cram everything in 2 hours. Because Arthur doesn't care about the world, world building in the movie is very little. I'm a world building kind of guy. An important aspect of humor is that we often find things funny when there is a little bit of suffering in others. For Arthur to suffer for 2 hours, there is hardly any humour at all, which is expected. It can be quite painful to watch Arthur's bad luck and Joaquin perfect portrayal of the mentally ill Arthur as believably cringey. The movie also does little to say not all crazy people will become bad guys. People might interpret it wrongly. The true message of the film is that we should be kind to other and help people. Not because they might turn evil, but we because we want to live in a society with ample kindness. Anyway, it's not like entertainment can make people violent.

We live in a society.
Society changed Arthur for the worst. Arthur then changes society for the worst. In order to make society great (again), we have to start with ourselves. Be kind to others.

Great film. 9/10.
