WARNING, LONG POST


for starters, I wanna say that Wyrd is fantastically made, and he's not super op, but I do still feel like he needs some changes to keep him in line with the base characters

Pros/Cons


Pros
-increased speed (not sure how much)
-25% increased damage
-night vision
-sanity regen during dusk/nighttime
-flask buffs for teamplay
-sanity aura for nearby allies
-hounds are neutral and can be tamed with monster meat (not hounds from hound attacks tho)
-insulation from the cold
-can eat monster meat
-above average health (200, vs the average 150


Cons
-sanity drain during the day
-pigs, catcoons, and bunnymen are aggressive to you
-15% increased hunger drain
-overheats more easily
-below average sanity (150, vs the average 200


My personal thoughts and suggestions


Wyrd's main role seems to be a hunter/gatherer, he can move quickly, hit hard, kite easily, and do it all even through the night, the main offset to this is that he has to eat more, using up some of the food he's just hunted for

-I think a good change would be increasing his hunger drain to 1.25, as right now he easily collects far more food than he uses, making his hunting skills feel a bit too powerful


His sanity is a bit of an odd case, as the daytime drain and nighttime/dusk regen almost completely cancel eachother out

-due to his natural kiting and damage benefits, Wyrd is actually a good candidate for nightmare farming, I think lowering his max sanity to 100, and disabling the dusk regen would make things much more interesting, this and the above change would make it so Wyrd's additional uptime at night would be nicely divided between extra hunting/gathering, and well as tending to his own needs, I think this would also fit well into his character


Lastly, Wyrd has really cool unique mechanics, but they have some flaws that make them awkward to use

-his flasks are amazing lategame, but could use more early game recipes, like simple liqours that can be crafted from seeds and flower petals with small personal effects, or a poisonous drink using dark petals and rot that can bait and kill rabbits/moles/birds, that way the flask doesn't sit there unused until you have a full farm running

-his sanity aura seems to be very small, my friend has to be basically right next to me to receive the full benefits, making it something like the radius of a lantern would make it much nicer imo

-hound taming is an awesome concept, but is also really awkward to use, hounds will eat any meat, including things like pig skin, even if they're allied, making it often necessary to kill them before returning to base, hound mound are also only in the dragonfly desert which makes them pretty limited, I have an idea to overhaul it, but it's a bit long


My hound idea
-make a unique lategame craft for Wyrd that sets up a hound den, which will spawn 2 hunting hounds, colored similar to wyrd, that don't eat fallen meat, and don't have a loyalty duration
-maybe use an eye bone type item for it
-if gems are placed in the den it will give the hounds special effects like fire and ice

this is basically just an idea to make Wyrd's hunting stay interesting as you progress further, obviously I haven't thought about it super in depth, but I thought it was neat enough to share

good thing they came out with the varglets came out they look just like Wyrd.
