Survival... Impossible
Finding Cobalt
How has everyone managed getting Cobalt when first starting?

I know some folks were lucky to have a boulder on the plateau, but none of mine are. I've got a base started but can't build a Gatling turret or build any type of thrusters without Co.

My hope is to get a ship to attack me and I use a bunch of interior turrets, but I have no clue if that's going to work. From other comments, it looks like the nearest Cobalt is at least 16km away.

There is probably some closer, but it's difficult to locate deposits. I must have gone past a Mg one multiple times just missing it by a fraction.

If you have not already I would build a ATV and a bunch of O2 tanks and investigate the sides of the hills. From memory I passed several on my way down slope in the direction I took. With the scrap mod you won't end up with a lot from early drones.

It will also be worth rechecking existing boulders every now and again. Some of us have had them change type.

Thanks for that. I actually started doing this and in the process I found a boulder that then changed to Cobalt. Guess I got lucky!

Can relate, I got lucky with 1 Co rock but can't find Mg anywhere. Just building a large ore detector or I have to move off the plateau.

I have both Co and Mg but iron is nowhere to be found. But I have 3 with Si while my base stand on freakin underground deposit of Si.
