Resource Points
what was the logic used to place resource points? Was just wondering how this map was balanced.

i can see one unbalanced aspect for sure. when someone goes to base turtle for instance, you will notice that the other maps have placed 2 tertaries in base. it wasn't really done to make the map look good, but to give the teams base who's surrounded a fighting chance.

alot of times what people will do it "my base is surrounded, game over, i'm gonna rage early." this is becuase based on what they've seen once the base is surrounded that pretty much it. that "we can comeback from this" aspect of the map really isn't there. not saying that stock maps should be followed right up the the letter (as even that can do this, but not quite as badly).

what do you suggest? I didn't get it. Do you suggest to add +1 tertiary at each base?
Vertex 1 DIC 2013 a las 12:15
i just edited my post abit, to explain abit more. that would definely help. that being said, not sure how that would effect the maps total resources production; wether or not a tertiary would need to be moved from anther location or not...

I still don't get what do you suggest. Simple English please :)

read between the lines, the post above clearly says this indirectly. i could of just said "i think base needs anther tertairy". but that doesn't explain why base needs anther tertairy.

but in summarize it up
-> base could use anther tertiary
-> might need to move 2 from elsewhere if this unbalances the maps total resource production
-> there might be a better solution than this, to balance this aspect of the game

well, I don't mind adding +1 tertiary to each base.
More resources is always good, isn't it?
Vertex 1 DIC 2013 a las 12:50
yes, more resources isn't always good.

you might need to subtract 2 tertaries from elsewhere on the map
OR
come up with anther solution to "more resources isn't always good"

subtracting 2 tertaries from elsewhere on the map and adding +1 to base might help better balance the aspect i explained above.

well, I don't mind this either.

more resources isn't always good becuase it finishes off games really quickly, without giving people a chance to enjoy the map.

what makes nuclear dawn fun is the "teamwork" aspect of it. where the team has to work togather with the commander to succesfully complete the map. by giving the commander more resources it can help him/her to win easeir without relaying on their team.

got your point.
well, I don't think that moving a tertiary to each base will change much. But I can put this suggestion into list for the next update.

+1 tertairy in base and subtracing 2 from elsewhere will change this alot.

Yeah I agree with stickz, having a base tertiary will definitely help with defence and therefore make it a lot more fun when you are surrounded as"there is some hope" that you will be able to turn it around.

However adding an extra 2 tertiaries may certainly harm the balance. More res means that the team doesnt matter and comms will fight with buildings rather than support the team.

could you explain why moving a teriary to each base won't change much? i just wanted to get your opinion on this so i can understand better. is there a reason why you only put 1 tertiary in base? usually there's a reason for everything; like it might be to make the map look better for instance. i can only guess why without an explanation.

On a side note: I love this map!! I like the fog and the hills. I have spent more time than I can admit hiding inside the trees :D

Could we have more obstacles in the central bit please? (they have them in other maps with lorries, tanks, cars and shrubs) Just something to hide people and buildings behind would be useful :)

Keep them coming Dimed, this is your best one yet! :D
