I didn't actually think anyone would give a ♥♥♥♥ about this mod! Thanks for all the positivity! I'm currently learning LUA and my skills are fairly limited, but I'll try to work out any issues as much as I'm able.

I figured I'd make up a more distinct explanation of the character and include an outline of my intentions for this mod for your interest.

Future Plans!:
Devon:
1. A unique hallucination enemy accompanied with specific sound work, possibly visual effects. Devon's near-death experience has caused him to be haunted by hallucinations of a centipedal boar that is continually eating everything until nothing exists. Would also like this enemy to destroy objects.

2. Unique voice sounds! (probably a guitar or something similar, currently using unimplemented Wallace sounds)

3. Implement some stealth related traits. Haven't decided on what exactly yet.

4. Tossing around the idea of adding craftable old-timey guns unique to Devon's character? He's basically a sharpshooter, so they seem appropriate, but I don't find myself caring all that much about adding them. If I get enough requests, I'll try to get them in, but for now they're on the shelf.

5. I maaaaay add a change is skin color based on season. Devon is of a species that takes in sunlight a lot like plants do, and will also dramatically change in skin tone based on how much sun they get, a lot like plants do. They range from a healthy crayon black to an emaciated semi-translucency. This trait would change based on season, getting darker as summer arrives and lighter as winter comes, so it would serve as something of a warning for seasonal changes - no more thermometer!




Birdy:
1. Currently, on player death, you just have to go retrieve Birdy like any other item. I'd like to have Birdy return to Devon upon player death, as well as hop around and be animated.

2. Thinking about adding the ability to get more Birdy's, but not liking the idea of having a mass of them. Might just make them exceptionally difficult to create OR give Birdy a lifespan. Or both.

3. I'd like to make Birdy be used hunt for things (with a recharge period); while she will often bring back useful food materials like meat or small animals, she may also bring back fairly useless objects.



I can't garauntee when any of these additions will happen, it depends entirely on my freetime and ability, and I'm a pretty busy guy with minimal knoledge of LUA, but they WILL happen at some point or other.

I'm looking quite forward to Birdy updates. Animated Birdys that would follow Devon around and sometimes hunt sounds pretty awesome.
I would like to see Devon's cowboy hat from your comics, and i like your plans for Birdy, except the 2nd (lifespan, creating new birdy's, etc...)

I had actually decided to do exactly that like an hour or two ago while working on some tweaks to his clothing design, and just turn Birdy into a companion (although I will miss wearing her on his head). So my next update, whenever that will be, should have his hat and a major edit to Birdy :D

Guns! GUNNSSS! That'd be amazing. This game doesn't have enough great projectiles. You might even want to make it a separate download - I imagine it would be very popular, and it fits in with the game!

@cowboypunk , I dont think dont starve will be a good game for guns. Why not make more weapons and a special trap, maybe even his own story line with maxwell AND the boar.

Add in weapons:
-stelth katana
-daggers
-darts (throwable not the lame expensive ones)
-boars tusk
-boars blood(healing)

What I have in mind for guns would function a lot like the blow darts currently do. It'll be hard to make and hard to keep up ammunition for. It's not a weapon of convenience, it is a weapon of luxury.

The thing about Devon is that he's all about specializing. He put all of his effort into learning how to use guns and because of this he really kind of sucks with most other things. Similarly, he put all of his effort into running, hiding and dodging and never built up any ability to take a hit, or even things like how to read above a 1st grade level. He's a min-maxer. I could give him other weapons, but in-character there's no reason why he would have them in the first place.

The boar will probably not have any drops (besides maybe nightmare fuel or similar items because it seems like an appropriately intangible/non-real thing) because it's just a hallucination for Devon. I'm hoping to make it an enemy unique to him and primarily just a threat to stability, often just being hinted at in the distance or darkness when sanity is high.

Devon actually has no idea how to use a bow! He's only good with guns and okay with knives and that's about it. I may look into making a craftable gun item, but it will probably take a while to get to because it will require new animations!

My long-term goal is to make Birdy into a companion, rather than and item, with the ability to fetch random items.

Please if you plan on making it so that we can't wear birdy as a hat, make his new hat have the same effect as birdy did. Or at least keep the sanity increase when he's next to you

Personally I find that Birdy's sanity gain when worn is a little excessive. It seems to be about equal to a Tam O'Shanter, which is a pretty big deal for an infinite duration item.
