For example, some use the in-wall coolers and vents to prevent them from destroying smoothed walls. Personally, I have just had too many issues with low hp weak points like these, especially when you start modding the game heavily.
At least so far, in early game, you practically need to make your base like swiss cheese in order to get enough light indoors, and fairly small rooms as well, so at that point at least, you cant avoid having weak points all over the place. Interestingly though, the raiders seem to prefer taking down the doors, and completely ignore the windows, probably because they want to go for something more valuable like food stockpiles etc.
Also, isn't the purpose of the mod actually to provide an alternate source of light?
I Think that added those as well would be a fair compromise.
