Concrete Patches - A [RF] Concrete Mod
[RF] Concrete has always been my concrete-adding mod of choice. It adds cement, concrete as a material and concrete blocks. But... it's a bit dated. It hails back from the era of the Rimworld beta, graphics and patches are old, there's no integration with recent mods. Mlie was kind enough to pick it up and maintain it, so I decided I could also overhaul it. Introducing: Concrete Patches [github.com]

Concrete Patches

Description

Concrete Patches revitalizes and modernizes the classic [RF] Concrete mod, bringing it up to date with new features, tweaks, and improvements. With a focus on enhancing gameplay, customization, and graphical updates, this mod breathes new life into your (my) favorite Rimworld concrete-adding mod.

Features

Grouped Buildings: Organizes buildings added by [RF] Concrete for easier management and navigation.

Building Tweaks: Adjusts asphalt and concrete tiles and buildings to require concrete. Sandbags now require sand to be built.

Research Prerequisites: Adds research prerequisites to prevent tribals from constructing concrete structures immediately, adding depth and realism to technological progression.

Customization Options: Offers various options for gameplay tweaks and adjustments to suit your playstyle.

Updated Textures/Graphics: Refreshes the mod's textures and graphics for a more visually appealing experience.

Mod Options

Hardmode: Changes building recipes to be more realistic, requiring cement for most stone floors and concrete for armoured walls and floors.

Hardmode Walls: Divides vanilla walls in metallic/woody and stony-based walls, with stony walls requiring cement.

Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ancients Integration: Adjusts Cement Press yield for realism, with options for different outputs (cinder blocks or cement).

Higher Cement Yield from Limestone: Increases cement output from limestone-using recipes.

Disable [RF] Concrete Embrasures: Removes [RF] Concrete Embrasures for those preferring other mods' embrasures.

Disable [RF] Concrete Reinforced Doors: Disables reinforced doors from [RF] Concrete for alternative door options.

Disable [RF] Concrete Reinforced Walls: Removes reinforced walls from [RF] Concrete for alternative wall choices.

Remove Rimnauts 2 Steel Bridge: Eliminates the steel bridge from Rimnauts 2 mod if considered redundant.

Use Soil Relocation Framework Sand: Integrates sand from Soil Relocation Framework for compatibility and consistency.

Integrate with Expanded Materials - Stones and Mortars: Integrates with Expanded Materials - Stones and Mortars mod, enhancing recipe options. Untested as the mod is not updated to 1.5.

Experience a refreshed and enhanced [RF] Concrete with Concrete Patches, offering a modernized gameplay experience tailored to your preferences.

FAQ

Q: Why not make a workshop entry for this?
A: I do not own Rimworld in Steam, only GoG. This means I'm not part of your walled garden. I can't even comment in mods, I can only make discussions like this one.

Q: Wait, I didn't authorize you to use my textures!
A: Whoops. This mod was intended for my personal use, I decided to share it to help anyone else that might want it. If anyone wants to formally ask for permission to use the textures, be my guest. I don't use Steam much (also see question above). If any of the authors want this down because no texture permissions, I will take it down, no problem. All textures are the property of their authors, I suck at art.

Q: Can you do X? Can you fix Y? Can you support Z?
A: Probably not. This mod was always intended to provide better integration and give more masochistic realistic options for my personal use, so it mostly integrates or does stuff I wanted. I don't promise I will support it at all int he future. But you can do whatever you want with the code though!

Q: Embrasures, Walls and Doors use the same old pixelated textures.
A: That is true. I didn't want to steal use any more textures without permission. Besides you can use:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2323211835
I promise the buildings will look fine with it, and it doesn't clash with this mod at all (unless you ignore the mod load order which is literally written in the mod).

Q: Can I use parts of this mod?
A: Yes! It uses The Unlicense, meaning you don't even need to attribute me. If Mlie wants to integrate any parts of this mod, if you want to publish it on Steam, whatever you want to do with the code, do it. Except the textures. Ask the authors permission to use it. Shame on me.

Unexpected even to me, here's an update.

I added support to Dubs mods. Now you can selectively toggle individual patches for Dubs Bad Hygiene, Rimefeller and/or Rimatomics. Rimatomics saw the most changes, and building nuclear reactors will cost a lot of concrete. Everything is optional, but I think this makes [RF] Concrete the only mod that also patches Dubs mods to use concrete and cement where reasonable.

RF Concrete remains my go-to concrete mod hence its amazing to see its modernization project - Thank you and good job!

Suggestion wise though - any chance to revert the glass recipe to the old one involving sand? Making glass from chunks feels kinda silly xD
Holy smokes, this is just what I was looking for!
