The Praetorian guards are the most elite unit of roman army. However instead of a strong unit they looks like a barbarian tribe horde. Your Veteran Legionaries skin could be a good example of the mighty praetorian guard units. Roman Auxiliary troops skin are looks like from Games of Thrones and this is not a good thing for a Roman unit. They may look like more Rome 2 era style.
As the main body of the roman army are Legionaries, if their uniforms are red it could mean a lot rather than green. With green the main body of the roman army looks like Gallic Auxiliary units.
All the soldiers in some of the units looks identical. As I notice so far, such as Roman Triari and Some Suevi female units. And the Eagle cohort. Actually I prefer your previous eagle cohort units models. A whole unit, full of centurions helmets could not be a so good idea. It may look really fascinating if the "officers" of the lower tier units could be centurion and the upper tier units officer could be your general skin. Or I don’t know if it is possible but, may be the Banners of the higher tier units skin could be centurion skin and the officer could be same. For your information I tried and notice that Benjin' s centurion mode " Roman Centurion Visual Overhaul" is able to work with your mode.
Ha it's cool if it works with benjin's! I'll add it to the compatibility, did you put it on top ?
You're quiet right on that green legios thing, I was hesistant but it was the Arena color scheme, but it does look weird x) I myself played them red/black.
I'll recolor them and the praetorians for that purpose!
The auxiliary infantry reskin is indeed a anachronistic reskin, they are 3rd or 4th century raetians soldiers apparently, and I understand the issue. Maybe I could replace another unit in the auxiliary section with those, as I still want them included in some way!
That's a very good suggestion for centurion/standard bearer replacement. If you like, that's what I did with the celts and germans, and itshould be the best option for romans too! Though no standard then ! But who cares about the eagles :p
I'll do all of that whenever I can tomorrow!
You mention some units being clones, and that's right, Arena was made on efficiency, with a minimum of models per unit. So I definitely cannot have varied heads for a unit, especially in the case of the Spear Women :|
The triarii I can add some head variation if they don't clip through the helmet, because none were made to fit that particular helmet!
Also, I see you mention the units by their original names, I actually renamed the whole rosters for the english location... it means you don't play in english ?! x)
Whatta shame! you're missing on some sweet unit names :p
The 'Praetorian Guards' are actually 'Auxilia Palatina' in my Arena:Total War reskin! That explains why they are some brute germano-celtic badasses ~~
