When you go down the stairs, head to the first room to the right with gemstone on the ceiling.
A note on the table mentions a hidden key in this room. (if you want search yourself stop reading now ^^)

There is a switch behind the shelf, after using it you can pick up the key at the basket hanging on the wall.
