This guide shall help you to add custom items and abilities to an SME compatible UGC (more specifically SME: Dead Man's Switch) while using a dedicated game launcher.
Any help and feedback about this guide shall be greatly appreciated. Thanks chummers !
A> CHOOSE YOUR CONTENT PACKS
1\ On Steam's Workshop, subscribe to the UGC "SME: Dead Man's Switch".
2\ On Steam's Workshop, subscribe to the UGC "SME: Vanilla Merchants".
3\ On Steam's Workshop, subscribe to one or more data only SME content pack.
(Eg: "SME: Chi Casting)
B> SET UP YOUR SME LAUNCHER
4\ Download the "SME Launcher Dead Mans Switch" on My Nexus Page[www.nexusmods.com]
5\ Extract "SME Launcher Dead Mans Switch" on your desktop thanks to Winrar or 7-zip.
C> SHADOWRUN EDITOR
6\ Open ShadowrunEditor.exe. If you can't find it, check the following location : "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Shadowrun Returns".
7\ In the editor's menu, go to "File\Open Content Pack".
8\ Select a file called "project.cpack" within the following directory "...\Desktop\Seattle Blues SME launcher\". This will open the game launcher.
9\ If you have never located your SME content packs before: in the editor's menu, go to "File\Edit Content Pack Search Path" and resume step D. Otherwise, skip step D and go directly to step E.
D> LOCATE YOUR SME CONTENT PACKS
10\ Go to the following directory "...\Steam\userdata\71589485\234650\local\ugc". Start a research there. You are looking for ".cpz" files with the keyword "SME".
(If the research's result do not display each of your subscribed SME content packs, launch ShadowrunReturns.exe and wait for it to finish its "Updating content packs ..." process.)
11\ You are looking for each SME file's directory, so you might want to display the research's results with "details".
12\ In the game editor menu "Edit Content Pack Search Path", click the green "+" on the upper right corner.
13\ Browse your computer for an SME content pack's directory. When this is done, click "Choose".
(This is where the research will become handy.)
(an example of a content pack location: "...\Steam\userdata\71589485\234650\local\ugc\204498885\contentpacks". This one is for SME: Dead Man's Switch.)
14\ Repeat step 13 until each of your SME content packs has been located and added to the game's editor list.
(If the research result has more than 1 file with the same tittle, please ignore the most outdated ones.)
E> ADDING NEW FEATURES TO THE GAME
15\ In the game's editor, go to "File\Edit Content Pack dependencies".
16\ Check each SME modules you want to play.
17\ Now take care of the order in which the content packs will be loaded by the game engine. Click "OK" when this is done.
Content packs on the bottom of the list are loaded after each other ones, meaning they might overwrite some of their contents.
Make sure to have the following content pack on the top of your list, in this exact order:
Now comes each content packs adding some new feature to the game. I'm currently using the following setting, but feel free to test anything you want:
F> PUBLISHING SME LAUNCHER
18\ In the editor's menu, go to "File\Publish Content Pack Locally". Yay, thanks to the DMS special SME Launcher, it's done already !
G> PLAY THE GAME
19\ Open Shadowrun returns. And select New game.
20\ Choose the campaign called "SME Launcher: Dead Man's Switch". ENJOY !
WARNING
Before changing the campaign's content pack dependencies again, make sure to delete your saves with the previous settings.
If you didn't, and if you cannot access to your "load game" menu any more, you may fix the problem by deleting the corrupted save files manually. Those ".sav" files can be found here: "...\Steam\userdata\71589485\234650\remote\saves"
