Feature requests
Request options here! This is a brainstorming thread, no bad ideas!

I'll keep a list of suggestions. Things will be worked on in the order that I feel like it, and sometimes I will work on things nobody asked for. Bolded items are higher priority.

If you have an idea, post what you want with as much detail as possible!

I would love to have a option to generate a map without mud.
So maybe a option to disallow the generation of some speciffic floor types.

Do you want to disable mud specifically, or generally disable terrain you can't build on? Marshy soil, shallow water, and so on.
RavenousEye 6 Jun, 2020 @ 5:28am
disabling all non buildable terrain is the big goal, besides a river floating trough the map

And probably leaving coasts intact. If you choose a coastal tile you usually want the beach!

yep, you sir can read my mind ^^

If possible, maybe a slider for how straight or curving a road or river is? most such features in rimworld have a slight arch or come at an awkward angle, it'd be cool to be able to have them perfectly straight, even more so to have them be perfectly vertical/horizontal. Same with Rivers.
On the flipside, it could be cool to have rivers that bend and snake wildly, like the horseshoe bend in the grand canyon.

on an entirely different note, is there an option for how scattered ruins and such are? I find it somewhat strange that there are all these ruins scattered about randomly all over a given map, having them be clustered more like tiny towns or outposts would make more sense.

Increase the amount of ocean on coastal tiles, similar to how you can increase the amount of mountain coverage. Currently you can only get roughly 20% or so, would be interesting if this could change.

Multiple rivers per tile or a single river that forks (likely very difficult/impossible).

@Gonzo: I've actually been playing around with rivers today and yesterday. Posted a screenshot of one of the results in discord[discord.gg] just now, will post more when the power comes back on later. Tldr: Just figured out what controls river bendyness, don't know how to access it yet. And need to see if I can get better consistency with the results. We'll see how it comes out!

Ruins are tricky. I highly recommend Real Ruins-- it has a lot of detailed ruin settings, and you get much more realistic and interesting ruins.

@pickers: Forked rivers would be awesome. I have no idea if I'll be able to do it. For ocean on coastal tiles, try Coastlines. I believe it already has some detailed options for that!

I want the option of caves and bugs. I also want the ability to make like a valley where there are mountains on two sides of the map and some rock outcrops in the middle. it would be good to be able to control how thick the walls would be

Coastlines seems like a good basic attempt at islands and 3 sides of water. But doesn't seem to be active and those appear to be the only added features. Does look like a good place to build on from with some features.
Zylleon  [developer] 11 Jun, 2020 @ 9:25am
@Kumi-Ankka-- can you elaborate on caves and bugs?

@pickers-- Huh. I thought Coastlines had sliders for coast size, looks like I was wrong. I've added beach size to the list
DeansOnToast 27 Jun, 2020 @ 10:52am
can i make a request for a reset button for mountains settings. I try to keep to vanilla when i can so like to know where the baseline vanilla effects are
Zylleon  [developer] 28 Jun, 2020 @ 12:21am
@Deans-- it's there, but it's at the bottom and the scrollbar sometimes breaks. I'm working on a fix for that for the next update.

Edit-- updated, scrolling should work correctly now.

How about a realtime preview on the changes i make, i somewhat understand some of the options but it still confuses me a bit.
Zylleon  [developer] 15 Jul, 2020 @ 1:40am
Are any options especially confusing? My guess is the options to position mountains (central, side, down the middle) are the worst.

The next few updates will be focused on usability, which definitely needs work. But a realtime preview of your map is not possible.
