There could be an event or a whole mission tree with the Gracchi brothers and/or a tree that focuses on the Socii. Rise of Marius and Sulla for sure(you said you are planning on adding characters). Change military reform, specifically the Triplex for thats been in effect for a couple hundred years by now and maybe replace with a "mule soldier" that gives HI huge buffs? There could be an event where Rome loses its Asian territories to Pontus and every Roman pop gets killed in those provinces. You can send a certain character to Bithynia for them to turn into a client state? Maybe you could give Rome a bunch of farming settlements in Sicily with "bleed them dry" or the other cruel gov edicts before start of game to represent the first servile war? Also more buildings built at start of game to represent the powerhouse that Rome was at that time (I had to disband every army and navy just to go surplus in economy). I think Rome should have more fuedatories at the start as well besides Massilla and Numida, maybe a tribe or two within the borders of Hispania Rome and one in Illyria?
Hope that wasn't too much, this game makes my mind wonder with all the possibilities!
I think at the least, I'll add Marius and Sulla very soon. there's already a Marian reforms event chain in the vanilla game, but I might try to sync them up better.
Great ideas. Going to wait until 1.5 to see how the new loyalty / revolt mechanics work.
Not sure when you first played but when I first uploaded the mod, I had not implemented cultural changes in the setup (will affect happiness and therefore taxes). And I will go back and add cities and civ improvements with time. Great ideas though! The Roman economy at start is a noted issue.
Still really glad to see this mod being updated, hope to see more, this will probably become the only start date mod I'll actually use.
