BASES : Stats for them, q&a's, and a list of base specials
What is a base?

Ok so there are 10 bases in the game. You start with Chang's, the opium den. Each base has different stats and a different special.

How do I get a new base?

You have to go to one of the factions, and kill all the dudes. After you kill the boss dude you get a 'Key' to the base. You then use the base computer, and transfer your command to it. Viola, you got a new base.

Do I have to take each base to win the game?

The mid-plot mid-boss and the end-game are triggered by the number of bosses you kill, not by the number of bases you move in to. So technically you could win the game by taking the same 2 or 3 bases over and over again. (Once you have killed nine bosses, you unlock the plot end game. After you take 5 I think it is, the mid-game boss is unlocked.)

What affect does a base's data connection have?

The better the connection, the lower the starting 'heat' or alarm state that you will have on the Matrix. Nerds also get a bonus to this as well. ( A lower starting alarm state, so you have more time on the Matrix before the spam bots come).

What happens when I move out of a base?

If you move into a base then abandon it for a new base, the enemies will respawn there. Note you don't have to take it over again though, to progress to the end-game. If you take out an enemy faction but elect not to move into the base, then it will remain empty.

What can I upgrade in a base?

You can do one upgrade per day. You can upgrade your income, your heal rate, or your defenses.

How do I use the base specials?

Once you pay for them in the base computer, that will unlock the special for use on the map. Look around your base for the unlocked special, I think most of them are easy to find, just be aware that you have to go use the thing after you unlock it , it is not all done through the base computer.

BASE SPECIALS

Hideout: Total-Security Lockdown.
Cost: 250, each-time
For a fee, you will have no chance of being attacked. This is most useful if you have a decent size team and need to heal up. You could also just use this for a while and the begining of the day and make $ without risk , but this will burn up some your days needed to complete the game (you have 75 days).

OCP: RC program
Cost: 3000 + contract fees for maintence
Activate the hero of Old Detroit, the reprogrammed RC5. He is one of the strongest runners you can get in the game, with high armor, a great special gun, great accuracy, though he is a bit slow. If you got Red-Robo on your squad, you will be able to kick ♥♥♥.

Night Industries: Molecular Bonded Shell armor
Cost: 800 to activate, then the cost of the armor
Unlocks the MBS-armor making device. It is basically a merchant with '6 armor' that is twice as strong as the default armor you have.

Save'On'Security: Gun range
Cost: 2000 I think, one time.
Train your arms ! Able to get +1 (I think up to 3 times) to either pistol, shotguns or rifles.

fortuna444: Bioware lab
Cost: 2222 + the cost of the cyberware
Unlock your very own bio/cyberware lab. This uses all the gear from the awesome, awesome Street Samurai Catalog. I think there must be like a 100 different upgrades to choose from. Expensive, but for any non-magic character, you can pimp yourself to god-hood with this base special.

WetWorx Securos: AI/ Personality Infuser
Cost: 2555 one time fee, but needs special 'personality download'
The mysteries of W3tW0rX are limitless. With this special you can unlock one of (currently 4) special characters, and bring them to life. How this works is a big part luck: If you are ever on the matrix and recieve a message feeling lucky, try your best to find the spanew disembodied hero on the Matrix. You'll be able to download his personality, and then with the Infusers help, you'll have a legendary runner on your team. The special characters are:
Akuma Void Legendary demon-powered martial artist magician of awesome strength.
Keanu Whoa this guy is so zen he basically knows every top-technique from Utna's amazing Chi Casting UGC.
Vargatos He's either a master-rigger, or a cyberware laden super man with a heavy shotgun, take your pick.
Elvis He's not the musician. He's a top decker period and stop, and 95% fighting cyborg.

Covenant of Zuul: Spirit slave labour
Cost: 750, plus fee per hire
Thanks to the cost effectiveness of out-sourcing labor to the spirit world, you can hire cheap and effective spirit slave runners to fight for you. Don't expect them to stick around, but they are capable.

Rivertown Rollerz: Holy Hose Canesco Roid Master 5000
Cost: 600 to activate, plus fee for injections
Do like the pro murderball and baseball players and shoot up tons and tons of performance enchancing drugs. (Boost your strength attribute with this machine).

Detroit Ninja: Super-secret weapon training
Cost: 1200
Use the secrets of the dragon sword training program to improve your melee ability.

The Recombinats: Zobra Zainer MAX 6000 Decombinator-Recombinator gene tweaking machine
Cost: 1455
This powerful machine will boost one of your core stats, such as strength or intelligence. The small catch is that you'll have to do some experimentation to figure out which on is which. I believe you can use this up to 3 times.

How do you activate the base specials? I have not been able to activate any of them so far, even though I have the creds for it

Hi mae. It's possible it was bugged -- the fortuna wasn't working last night, for the new version going up tonight will work. They all 'should' work, and the code for them working is there, but there is bugz. Generally the base specials work like this though:
1) You unlock them in the base computer.
2) Then you have to go to the special itself. I.e at Save on Security you would go to the gun range, in the Ninja base you go to the courtyard and use the red-pole thing, in the recombinators, you use that big machine in the center of the lobby, etc.

Which base were you trying to use the special for ? I'll test it and fix it up if its not working. Where you able to build it at all in the computer? Or does it not allow you to even build it? Thanks.

Oh man whew that is real bad luck (about 1/10) to be attacked immediatly after taking a base. Hmm I didn't know you can take the base without killing all the dudes fixed, hehe may have to fix that up, I guess its not checking.

Ok will go backwards here. Re OCP, so you transferred your command codes, and the menu says OCP when you the base computer at OCP? If so , it should be loading a enemy-free map, I'll check that out. You'll know (in the latest version) if you are on enemy-less, cleared map now because the loading screen will be different.

It supposed to be like this: If you take out all the enemies of a base, and don't transfer your command codes over in the base commander, the map will stay empty and you can come back to it. If however you move into a base for more than one turn and move out, the enemy will respawn there after you move out.

Do upgrade to latest version, lots of fixes.

Recombinators -=> yes there is a base computer there. (Next version, each will be labelled like the one in the hide-out.) Did you go to the northern room? After the main lobby there is a northern room (with the dog cages) and Dr. Frank,. If you killed those guys, got the key, you can take over that base. The base computer is sort of 'east' to the right of the main 'recombinator' machine in the center of the lobby. Just look about it, it'll will be the only computer you can use in that room.

You can't build upgrades on the first day of taking over. If after the second day the upgrade(s) don't work, let me know, can fix.

after hiring RC5 as soon as i go somewhere he disappears.

ok so i rewind and hire RC5 again ind check the roster he is in slot 1 and it says days remaining:9, daily salery:444, health: 0/0... however on the character sheet it says ap:3, hp:291, armor:7, essence:-2, magic:0

i tried ending the day and he is still there an all that is the same. i try traveling to augzone and he is gone no longer in the roster. rewind to ending the day and traveled to recombinateors and same thing. rewind and travil to guns, guns, guns, than travil right back to ocp and he is gone again.

Aw crap really ? I'm sorry Solraven for the bugs. Next version will get OCP going 100%. As for the Recombinators level, I'm having trouble where even after killing all the bad guys the game does not go to freemove (which is needed to access the base computer). Thanks for your patience. Steadily working my way through all the bugs. Half of the bugs are my own fault, but the other half are bugs in the game and editor I have to work around as well. Will be finishing this up I'm hoping, and getting a definitive major-bug-free version done before Valentine's Day (had to take a break in almost of my almost full-time development of this game for some other pending IRL stuff). Kill-City : Detroit will be FIXED and supported though, eventually, I promise.. Sorry again for the bugs...the good news is after fixing them you'll be able to reload your game (if you are not too pissed off at it hehe) and take it from there without needing to start over.
ZippyTheWonderMoonrat  [developer] 21 Jan, 2014 @ 7:02pm
Just to be clear : Rc5 is like other runners, so he won't be on solo maps, but yes, he defintely should be showing up when you attack other bases.
Solraven 22 Jan, 2014 @ 4:27am
definitely gonna restart when that release comes out. another bug, i cant get to level 2 of save on security. i kill everybody on first level try to go up but as soon as it loads and you push th yellow button it spawns you in combat. before you get to make a move it triggers the elevator and starts loading the first floor again. now my runners spawned next to the cabbie but i spawn next to the elevator surrounded my enemy's i swear this game hates me. i tried to go back to second floor, but it just sends me back as soon as it loads.
