Cormanthor faction crashes the game + some others.
  • Cormanthor is unplayable and game breaking. If playing with, the game crashes after a while. Anywhere between turn 40-120, it will just crash at the barbarian turn during end turn. Played Cormanthor five times already, always happened.

    It probably has to do something with the unique mechanic of cities uprooting themselves, based on my experience with playing against.

    Here is what happens when played against. You damage a tree city, it instantly changes into an uprooted variant and then if you damage the uprooted variant, crash.

    The problem is systemic. The game will crash as well if an AI faction actually tries to take a Cormanthor city. So you can only play this mod if Cormanthor is left untouched and unharmed. Whatever tries to take/destroy and gets to as much as attacking a Cormanthor city, the game will crash. If you play as Cormanthor, you end up crashing after a while no matter what.

    I always use the Faerun or Faerun+underdark scenario so i haven't tested this on just some random map. But on these scenarios, Cormanthor renders the game unplayable either way.


  • Invisibility is now utterly broken. It should last only a few turns but only the actual visual effect is what ends. The units while regaining their little icon, remain unseeable and untargetable and completely unattackable. If a melee unit tries to make the attack what ends up happening is said unit just moves onto the same tile and in a sort of stack.


    True seeing no longer reveals invisiblity either.

  • Orcs can still build Polder which i assume is a bug and not a feature?

  • Is the fact that units no longer require the resource associated with them a bug or a feature? (+1/+2 weapon and armor, spellbooks, robes+1, etc.) While their description do state they do require said material, when built they don't take up any and thus spammable.

  • The fact the dwarves cannot get charters and can only conquer cities beyond their initial city limit, if a feature, should probably be mentioned in the new race description under cons. It is a pretty big thing,

I found another situation crashing using Cormanthor.
When building complete or buying Fisherman's hut, game is always crashed at that time.
I guess that it seems to be related a free Work Boat.

I think the Dwarves level 2 town hall (vergadains vault) grants a charter.

hi, I tried again after a long time and it always happens, after a few rounds the game crashes, is there a way to solve the problem?

After much testing of Cormanthor both played and against, I can confirm with a high amount of certainty that the game crashes when:

-Building a Fisherman's hut at a coastal city since they do not have work boats.
-Having the Settler Elder Tree be attacked. "Capturing" the Settler Elder Tree isn't possible.
-Having an enemy take a settlement. The unique nature of how their cities work is not compatible with other races.

In summary, Cormanthor is game breaking if used as an AI because they will either build a Fisherman's hut or be attacked by a hostile nation. But you can play it yourself if you avoid these 3 pitfalls. A shame because it forces a particular play style.

I experienced some of these crashes as well with Cormanthor - glad I saw this thread as it was only my 2nd playthrough and with all the crashes I thought there was a problem with the Mod in general vs. just one faction causing crashes.
