Is there a secret palette mode where there isn't any shading? Cause I think i might've accidentally found one.

I was playing online with my friend when i accidentally held one of the triggers on my Xbox 360 controller after the match ended and then Mario's portrait appeared without any shading? Is this a secret feature no one has found yet or is this just a glitch?
