I usually carry some basic ingredients, but the dinos follows usually takes all of them.
Disable caravan until you want it pulling.

I am new to this game and have no idea what is required for mods to work, but is there a reason you couldn't just allow building of the two items through the inventory crafting or smithy?
And making them craftable in player inventory would add a lot of engrams to the players as development continues.
The next update alone adds another 14 craftables.
