Getting Energon as a non-transformers empire?
This is for my friend who is obsessed with collecting all his favourite species into his empire and still being able to use stuff.........

His primary species is not transformer/robotic (he using elves) and thus does not have any of the transformers starting traits, and has his origin set to the Ark (halo)....

1. What are the ways that a non-transformer empire can have Energon tech become available? I think have had this happen before when playing with psionic empire myself so I think there is some way(s)?

2. Would having a non-primary species with autobot/decpticon etc trigger any tech unlocks? So far it has not so I assume it needs to be primary. Tho for a test I did apply those traits to a sub-species of my primary since I was robotic and I havent seen any Energon techs.

Friend taking a while making his empire so I had a look at the code and it looks like Energon mining tech can appear if you have any planets in your borders with energon deposits. Is this correct? And is there any other ways for tech to pop up?

Sorry for late response, but yes, if you own any planets within your border that has an energon deposit, you will eventually get the research for it. However, other than reverse engineering it from debris of a cybertronian empire, there isn't any other way to get it since its a special resource for transformers.

The only other way to get it is by adding the energon dependence trait before starting the game which will automatically give you the necessary tech and research to make and use energon.

Edit: Inducting cybertronian pops with the cybertronian trait into your empire may also meet the requirements to get energon tech.
