The Phalanx CIWS (1A) fires at a rate of 4,500 Rpm (3.5 times the Pikeman) with a 1,550-round magazine. The 15mm round is an armor-piercing tungsten or a depleted uranium penetrator with a discardable plastic sabot.
That being said, If I go the CIWS route rifle ammo would be drastically inept as an ammo choice. There is however another mod I have found that is a variation on the CIWS so perhaps instead of going that way I will make a toned down and weaker version that might/could use man-portable weapon ammo.
DARDO (dual Bofors mounted in a dome) are also pretty dang cool.
FancyFez made those. I don't have any of the ISM models to work with and the only ISM weapon I have ever gotten to work or seen working is the Pikeman. I won't be resurrecting any of the ISM's. Only FancyFez has access to the files for that and if I recall, he no longer has those files either so even he can't do it. This is going to be a completely new weapon mod.
@DrKartoffelsalat:
I was intending to base it off of the CIWS (1A) [Vulcan style]. I haven't used the other CIWS mod out there but I did notice there were some operational issues with it. Would you say that it works well enough that another CIWS would be useless and redundant or still a worthwhile effort?
My original intention was CIWS, keeping in the spirit of the deprecated Pikeman. Something CIWS in design but perhaps less robust and complex.
Having a functional Phalanx and maybe bring back a more modern version of something with Bofors (akin to the old "Battlecannon and Turrets" mod by Rider) is probably not redundant, but rather very appreciated for people that are not jumping on the Weaponcore bandwagon.
Thank you for the feedback! I completely agree. As nice as WC sounds it seems to change too often to be what I would consider stable and there are so many good weapon mods out there that would get tossed away switching to WC. I think too many modders are jumping onto the WC bandwaggon while not bothering to make vanilla code versions.
I was a fan of B&T. I am still in an infantile stage with my 3D modelling but once I get a handle on it I'll look into a Bofors style weapon. There are a lot of them out there still though many seem to be seriously outdated.
Iron = low damage, low kinetic affect ( early/mid game super weapon)
Gold = medium damage, medium affect (mid game super weapon)
Uranium = high damage, high kinetic affect (end game super weapon)
I'm not sure if that is at all possible in the SE engine and it is well outside of my intentions for the CIWS style weapon. At least for now I am not intending any sort of beam weapon or redesigning the ammo functionality. Sticking with a CIWS style gatling.
Proper Gatling
It's just a modification of the vanalia gatling parameters.
What would be interesting to do with a gatling mod from a T250 Vigilante tank chassis.[images.guns.com]

There is a lot of information about that weapon on the internet.
