DOCUMENTATION
Getting started

After spawning in the bunker, you will receive a task that says "Escape immediately!", which must be completed within 120 seconds or the mission will fail. Follow the marker on your screen and approach the main exit down the hallway. This will open a strategic map, where you will be able to select a spawn position. Please note that this can take up to a minute. Each position has particular loot sites nearby, most of which are marked on the map.

Obtaining gear/loot

Mechanism:

- Each item has a particular chance to spawn in its respective building type.
- High-tier loot has a lower spawn chance than low-tier loot.
- There will be no loot in the following places: platforms, destroyed buildings and other blacklisted buildings.

There are five categories of buildings:

- Civilian (normal houses)
- Industrial (factories and sheds)
- Military (barracks, bunkers, tents, towers and other military installations)
- Medical (Medical tents and hospitals)
- Survival (hunting lodges, general stores and camp houses)

There are four types of loot:

- Weapons (can spawn with up to one compatible magazine)
- Magazines (can spawn separately or along with a weapon)
- Items (all have functions)
- Clothing (including uniforms, vests, googles and headgear)

There are five ways of obtaining gear:

- From buildings (no backpacks)
- From helicopter crash sites (military loot and backpacks)
- From airdrops (medical loot and backpacks)
- From looting bandits' corpses (all low-mid tier gear including backpacks)
- From traders (all weapons and some ammunition types)

Using equipment and miscellaneous items

- Any item from the Heros Survive mod can be used by double-clicking on its symbol in the inventory. This may not always work reliably, especially if you have a low frame rate.
- Permanent item storage can be obtained through vehicles or by deploying storage crates (suitcases).
- Fireplaces require matches or a lighter to be set up.
- Sleeping bags can only be deployed in shelter or near a fireplace.
- Lamps can only be placed on the ground.
- Gutting animals requires a knife.
- Water cans can be refilled at any water source (wells, containers, etc.) but not natural (polluted) sources.

Vehicles

- There are 34 different vehicles available in DeadlandZ including helicopters, quads, cars, trucks and MRAPs.
- Upon mission launch, a total of 60 vehicles will spawn on the map, each having random fuel and damage values.
- Some vehicles are more common than others.
- A small percentage of vehicles may not be represented. However, it is guaranteed that each available vehicle category will be represented.
- Spawned vehicles will not contain any loot in their inventory.
- Vehicles can be refueled at gas stations (unintended - lacking power supply) or filled up with canisters containing their respective fuel type (diesel or petrol, matching the vehicle's real-life counterpart).
- Vehicles can be repaired using the Tool Kit S or at any repair station.
- They can also be refueled and repaired in trader camps for free.

Artificial intelligence

There are three factions:

Zombies (OpFor):
ACTIVE, HOSTILE, MOBILE, RANDOM

- Found inside or outside of buildings anywhere except safe zones, usually in any size of groups and high numbers.
- Some will track down the player immediately, while others will roam the area until the player is discovered.
- Slow to medium movement speed.
- Upper body hits are required for an effective kill. Do not drop loot.
- Getting hit will cost the player 15 health points and does not cause an infection.

Bandits (IndFor):
ACTIVE, HOSTILE, MOBILE, RANDOM

- Found inside or outside of buildings anywhere except safe zones, usually in small groups and small numbers.
- Will track down players and occasionally sneak up on them without engaging if unseen.
- Engage zombies at will and can run out of ammunition.
- Equipped with random gear drawn from a predefined array.
- The player will be rewarded with 20 dollars per kill.

PMCs and traders (BluFor):
PASSIVE, FRIENDLY, STATIC, PREDEFINED

- Found inside the bunker and in trader zones.
- Equipped with preset gear and stuck in animation.
- The mission will fail when engaged by the player.

AI Features
- Zombies and bandits will be spawned and deleted in cycles depending on the player position and amount of currently active units
- They will not spawn in or around safe zones but may enter it after some time
- Bandits will behave human-like and try to trap, flank or ambush the player
- The maximum simulation distance for any unit is 1000 meters

Economy and trading

Mechanism:

- Trades are unlimited.
- Items can only be sold if not equipped.
- Any purchases must be directly transferred to the equipped uniform, vest or backpack.
- Items can only be purchased if enough space is available.
- Money can be obtained by killing bandits or by selling items.

There are two types of markets:

Trader Camp (2 locations):
Trades most commonly found items including food, beverages, medical items, basic equipment and some low-tier weapons.

Arms Dealer (1 location):
Sells and buys all weapons available in DeadlandZ, some magazine and ammunition types (at least one per weapon class), attachments and high-tier equipment (NV goggles, rangefinder, mine detector, etc.).

Some changes might be reset when loading a save.
