Better Art Wanted
Most of the icons used in this mod I made a few myself (not particularly well) and I pulled a few icons from the internet meaning none of the art is really that good.

Because of that I would be most appreciative if any artist out there would like to contribute better icons.

Obviously, I would love if someone wanted to do art for all of the icons in this mod (and for my other era mods) but will accept any good contributions.

In terms of what I'm looking for quality wise the icon has to represent whatever its for (obviously), look good and should be of the same style as Civilization 5's icons.

If you want to contribute something let me know in this discussion. Also, anyone who wants a sugestion as to how a certian icon should look (in terms of what actually should be drawn) or who wants me to write a list of what icons are needed or has a question: feel free to ask.

can you provide a list of the assets? both their "name" and their file location, pls (see my workshop — I have made mods and decent custom artwork, just for a different game)

The art is found here: C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAMEHERE]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Enhanced Acient Era (v 1)\Art

What's in the file is an icon atlas (a file w/ all the icons) for each size that the icon might be required to be and the wonder splash screen for Solomon's temple.

An exmaple however, of how to draw the icon in terms of what size the image should be can be found here[www.civfanatics.com] (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=3459&c=37).

Also note, that the icon is drawn as a circle that does not take up the entire image, if you could do it like that it'd be really help me when I put the icon into the atlas.

Every new item requires a single new icon. The following is just a list of every icon needed (as a side note this list is the same as the list of items added).

Technologies
  • Fishing
  • Mysticism
  • Oral Tradition
  • Alaphabet
  • Map Making
  • Literature
  • Code of Laws
  • Warrior Code

Buildings
  • Asherah Pole
  • Sacrificial Alter
  • Totem Pole
  • Camp Fire
  • Elder's Tent
  • Hieroglyphic Wall
  • Nautical Chart Office
  • Scribe's Office
  • City Gates
  • Local Office
  • Slave Market
  • Tax Office

Wonders
  • Solomon's Court

Finnaly, a new Splash Screen for Solomon's court would be accepted but is probalby not needed as badly as new icons (cuz the icons I did are horrendous).

icons are my weak spot but .. I'll take a look.

regarding the link: it looks like I need a soft black outer bevel (offset to left and top), with a white background (which you want me to instead use an alpha background). Yeah let me see what I can do :) At first I'll just do some individually and see how it goes..

One thing — can you create a little google spreadsheet or something that maps the technology or thing that I am creating an icon for, to its location in the current atlas?

off the top of my head I get:
(dear?) Fishing Mysticism? Elder Tent? Alphabet ... it is kinda hard to glance back and forth and always search to know what I am looking at. And you are more familiar with the art :)

Sorry, I should have done a chart for the icons to begin with. I don't have a Google account so what I did was I made a chart using Microsoft word and uploaded it to steam. You can find it in my artwork or here (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403013788).

I want to make sure that you know that you have complete creative control over how you draw whatever icons you draw (I would ask, however, that they look like Civ 5 icons).

That said, some of the current icons not only are low quality but also the way they’re actually drawn I don’t like either so in that light I’ve made a chart to describe which icons I like how they’re drawn and which ones I do not. Also if you’d like I could put together a kind of an idea board for what could actually be drawn in each icon if you think it’d be useful.

Fishing
This is fine but it could be drawn to actually include fishing or to have multiple fish
Oral Tradtion, Elder's Tent, Solomon's Court
I like these ones; they should just look like Civ 5 icons
Mysticism, Alphabet, Map Making, Literature, Code of Laws, Warrior Code
These icons are from Civ 3 so I like the way they're drawn, they just don't look like Civ 5 icons
Camp Fire
This mainly just could be drawn different to represent that it will be renamed "Bonfire" and to have Natives using it
Totem Pole, Hieroglyphic Wall, Nautical Chart Office, Scribe's Office, Local Office, City Gates, Tax Office, Sacrifical Alter, Asherah Pole
These are the icons I drew and honestly, these would look better drawn completely differently
Slave Market
I don't really have an opinon on this one as of right now

its funny that you said that .. I just finished making this one[imgur.com] that would work for either oral tradition or elder's tent :) haha

Here's one for fishing[imgur.com] too, the other I was working on today/yesterday. It is honestly too cartoonish — but it was the best fishing I could think of .. I might come back and try to put together one that is photograph based and better reflects primitive fishing.

PS> I don't entirely draw these or take the photographs and everything, but I do substantially change them. The mountains in Fishing were all a single flat/solid color blue, for instance.

I actually really like the fishing icon and I don't really see it as being too cartoonish, except for maybe the sign. I also liked the Bonfire icon.

While those two are fabulous I’m kinda iffy on the oral tradition icon. Not that I don’t like it per se I’m just not sure if I like it as much or if it fits as well as the one’s I already for oral tradition and elder’s tent. The thing that is good about it and that I definitely like is that if I make it the icon for oral tradition that’ll help separate it from the elder’s tent icon a lot better than current.

At any rate using my entire artistic arsenal (copy and pasting, using plugins that do all the work for me and having too much time on my hands) I messed around with the fishing icon a little bit to remove the sign and add kind of a Civ 5 style background. I did decently on the former but not necessarily the latter. So while the icon you did is still better (as it actually represents fishing) if you want you could look at what I did you can do so here.

I tried to get the Civ 5 sunburst effect in the background but idk how well I did. Anyway, a new icon could have the sunburst effect (either what I did or something else) and some ancient–looking fishing boats in the water if wanted the icon to be less cartoony without completely redoing it. However, like I said I do really like the one you already did and would be more than happy using that.
